Default Bought a Blackberry 8230 Flip phone for alltel/ cant get it activated! - 09-14-2009, 03:25 PM

So I bought a Blackberry 8230 Flip phone for alltel. The day I got it in the mail I called up with all the numbers ready to get it actiavted. I gave the Alltel customer service person every number off the back of the phone, and still was't able to activate my phone. They couldn't give me any answers on why it isn't working, or how to fix it. If you guys have any information on this that would be great!

I'm guessing verizon is killing alltel phones?

Could be many issues. Reported as lost or stolen. Has a bad ESN. Previous owners account is in arrears. Could be a demo unit that has been blacklisted by RIM.

We have a FAQ article on buying a BB from eBay. Has good info for any one buying a used BB. To late to help with your current purchase, but maybe for future reference?

So is there anything I could possibly do, to get this phone to where I can actually use it?

Well, verizon is refusing to honor alltel's customers' upgrades and basically making them switch to VZW to get a new phone. Who knows what else theyr doing

Verizon NEVER allowed Alltel devices on their network.
What's different now?

I do not know if has something to do with it but Verizon recently swallowed up Alltel so in effect making them Verizon customers now.
