Exclamation UMA without the plan - 09-19-2009, 09:15 AM

I own a BB 8220 with rogers Canada and I have the Data Plan. Also at home I have a wireless router. From times to times I was able to connect on UMA but it was going on and off.

After reading a couple of troubleshooting messages on numerous forums I tried something. When I'm at home, I turn off the Rogers coverage and leave it only on the Wi-Fi. It works ! But there is a little something, I can make calls and receive / send e-mails but I don't seem to be able to receive calls. I tried it from my home line and I got to the voicemail without getting the phone to ring.

I haven't subscribe to the UMA '' My zone '' from Rogers, is that the reason why I can't receive calls ?

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

If it is the same as tmo, you don't even need a data plan for uma. Check for firmware updates for your router and phone. That should help

Thanks for the heads up. My phone is up to par, with all the updates, but the router I'm not sure. Router is a D-Link WBR-1310.
