Since there was no thread on this yet, I figured I would start one.

Last weekend OS 5.0.0.230 was leaked for the Blackberry 8230.

I have a buddy with the Alltel 8230 and it will not install on this. Apparently the Alltel version is actually an 8230f...who knew.

Changes I've Seen:
- Threaded SMS - SWEET!!!
- It now says 3G instead of 1XEV
- A LOT of new options in many menus
- Bedside Mode now has ability to automatically switch profiles
- Ability to ring and vibrate at same time in Profiles
- Media is now separated into folders
- New blackberry boot screen with progress bar
- New camera interface

Issues I've found:
- Blackberry App World gets error connecting to App World Server
- Viigo doesn't work - hangs when clicking icon
- Quickpull Lite doesn't work
- No BBM 5.0 - but that is true for any 5.0 OS
- No external display of SMS messages. It just has the icon with the number of unread messages

Does anyone know if this issue has been fixed yet? I have 5.0.0.230 and App world still doesn't work...any ideas?

Can anyone comment on themes? Do they display properly? When I put 5.0 on an 8330, I lost the top line of the display on most screens. Any theme issues on the 8230?

I have not seen any theme issues running 5.0 on the 8230.

Two strange strange things I noticed.

If I play something in the Media Player, then close the Player, the Player still displays on the external screen after I close the flip. I have to battery pull to get rid of it.

Also, there is net_rim_tid_multitap in the downloads folder.

I too have this problem, I have noticed that if I pull up my mp3 list it sometimes goes away from the outside screen, but not always.

I am experiencing this too, I just hid it and it seems to be a non-issue

@bremere, thanks for the resonses. I have since gone back to 4.1.6.309. While I could have put up with a few small items for the beta version, I had one problem I could not get past. I saw no way to set Sure Type as the default input method. I only had one option in the settings--for Multitap. I constantly found myself typing away, notlooking at the screen, only to find it was in Multitap mode. :/
