Default Latest OS: 8220 4.6.0.520/4.6.0.305 (Multilanguage) - 10-19-2009, 08:36 AM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.520 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.0.520
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.0.305
* Software Platform: 4.1.0.100
* File name: 8220M_PBr4.6.0_rel520_PL4.1.0.100_A4.6.0.305_AVEA. exe
* File size: 88.79MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...F22A6C2A830A17

Instructions for installing on ANY 8220(regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Note For Advanced Users Only: If you plan on deleting the cod file for pre-installed media your exterior LCD will not function correctly. This does not pertain to people doing normal installs. You will not be affected.

Well I had a bad experience upgrading to this OS. The worst part was because when its over, the Blackberry App World its reinstalled so every single application downloaded from there its gonna need a restore too (not sure why) anyway this made my BBMessenger 5.0 useless for a long while... and I lost my contacts (lucky me that I backed up the list) and many other "big" applications took a while re-installing themselves...

If you do not have problem with your current OS, then stay safe there...

Does this upgrade solve the problem with the Bluetooth? On my BB, I can enable the bluetooth.

Im guessing you meant "can't" anyway I dont think that problem its software fixable... and since I luckily have my BT working I cant really say....

You can give a try... the Upgrade its working great for me after the issue re-installing... and it did solve a minor bug with themes for me...

But the bluetooth not being able to check the box thing its most-likely hardware so you probably need to change the phone over this....

good luck anyway

I'm running this OS. No problems.

I'm eagerly waiting for OS 5.0 though.... I hope it appears soon!

Ditto here. Running .305 with no issues, didn't experience the BB Aps/general application restore issue. No major changes, but seems to be a little more stable, and less laggy.

Alos looking forward to 5.0.

1st Step in Troubleshooting: Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
2nd Step in Troubleshooting: Pull the Battery.

It's subjective, but it seems more laggy - the wheel less responsive.

The Facebook App is failing to connect. And Blackberry App World is failing to load with a timeout. Flickr won't connect.

AIM still works though.

BT still won't enable. Probably need to replace my handset for that one.

No time now but probably going back to previous OS tomorrow.
