Default 8310 vs 8800

Please Login to Remove!

Im being told that 8310 supports 4.2.2 and that 8800 doesn not.

Is there any other reason why i would choose 8310 over 8800?

I never had an 8800 but I've read comments from users who prefer the Curve keyboard over the slippery and cramped keyboard of the 8800.

I personally like the smaller size of the Curve over the 8800. And I definitely need the camera.

Great. One less difference. You can compare the two on BlackBerry

I personally had both and liked both. I didn't have a problem with the 8800's keyboard like some people. I like the 8300 and 8310 better. I have had both of those also. Smaller, lighter, camera and it seems to me the gps on maps work better, could just be updated map software. The only thing that I thought was better on the 8800 was the battery life, lasted forever. Not that i have had any problems with the 8300's series ones at all though.

First, go here to compare:
BlackBerry - Compare BlackBerry Devices | Wireless Handheld & Mobile Features Comparison From RIM

While some of this has been stated before...
  • The 8310 has a Camera (none on 8800)
  • The 8310 comes with a built in Spell Checker (not on the 8800 - yet?).
  • The keys on the 8800 are funky but a tad larger than the 88310's, but the keys themselves are nicer on the 8310 (personal opinion).
  • The Curve has a standard 3.5mm stereo jack - the 8800 uses a non standard 2.5mm jack (both for stereo and voice on both devices).
  • The Curve has Stereo Bluetooth - not available on the 8800 (and probably will never be available).
  • The Media Player on the 8300 is a bit nicer than the 8800 (don't know why it shows as not available on the comparison chart but I'd imagine it's at least the same one that's on the 8300!)
  • The rated battery life on the 8800 is rated to have about 25% more battery life than the 8310 (because the battery is about 25% larger - but not too large or heavy)
In short, the 8310 is a much nicer device. However, I have an 8800 and love it, and wouldn't give it up for anything less!

Is there a processor speed difference?

I am trying to choose between an 8800 and a 8310.

I will use it mostly for business, and will be running local applications. I get a ton of email and will use it heavily.

Performance is important to me.

What about screen resolution difference?

Thanks.
