Default Automatically do "Keyboard Lock" after 10 seconds? - 10-20-2007, 04:11 PM

I'm looking for the possibility to automatically do "Keyboard Lock" when the BB has not been used for example for 10 seconds? This functionality is available on many Mobile phones. Can this be set up for a 8310 in the Advanced Profile somehow?

Thanks,
MrSven

Options / Security Options / General Settings
Set a Security timeout there.

10 seconds is NOT a lot of time...

Default Thanks for the reply - 10-20-2007, 04:27 PM

I tried what you wrote but I want to have the Password disabled – otherwise I guess it does not work? What I'm after is a way to just Lock the keys after for example 1 minute (but preferably less time if possible) and not have to enter a password to unlock the BB. Similar as manually Locking the devise. Is that doable?

I use a free app called Autolock for the Pearl on my 8320. Works great. Here is the thread on this app: http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...rry-pearl.html

Hi, Thanks, this seams to be exactly what I'm after. Just a stupid question because I'm quite new to BB:

You have two links in your reply -
autolock.jad
autolock.zip

... Question: Shall I download both and install - but install where? When I download it to my LapTop - how can I get it into my BB? Using the Desktop Manager?

Please advise a beginner....

Thanks,

Thanks,
If you have a Blackberry data plan, the easiest way to install is to install the program over-the-air ("OTA") using the "jad" file. To do this, just type the URL for the "jad" file into your Blackberry browser. It will take you to the download program screen and then follow the instructions from there.

The "Zip" file is the same program. If you do not have data service on your Blackberry, download the "Zip" file and use your Blackberry Desktop Manager on your PC to install the program.

You can try the lock system under...
Options - Security - General Settings -
If you enable it, it will lock it as soon at 1 minute or as long as 1 hour.
Make the password simple if you like, but I think more than 4 characters.

Welcome to the forums. The OP stated that he didn't want to use a password. The autolock program is the only way to do this.
