Good day everyone. Yesterday, I purchased an 8310 for replacement of my 8700C. I am technically challenged to the nth degree. Having said that, apparently so was a rep and manager at the AT&T store. He first attempted to download Telenav to my device memory. The manager berated him for not installing it to my memory card. As I discovered, this is not possible, thus, upon returning home, I downloaded Telenav to its rightful place.
To cut to the chase, I have a very neophyte question about restoring data from my 8700C backup file to my new 8310. On my desktop, I have left intact software version V18.104.22.168 (platform 22.214.171.124). Should I remove this, install the desktop software included on the CD for my 8310, and then restore my data, or uninstall the old desktop software and then do a restore? I have also not used the Change Device Wizard because the good people at AT&T helped me update my device information at the BIS site (blackberrystart...).
By the way, the AT&T personnel couldn't figure out how to transfer my contacts from my old SIM card to the new one. Ah well.
I tried to search for the information requested, but I ended up confused and crying on my deck.
