Default Tips On Using The Phone Without a Trackball?

Please Login to Remove!

So my entire trackball part broke, the ring, the magnetic rollers, etc. I'm currently waiting for a new one to ship to me, but in the mean time, do you guys have any tips on how to navigate without the ball? I've managed to get to my mail via the Switch Application menu, but that doesn't allow me to get to the alarm clock, or accept no BBM requests, or add people to my address book.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you will need to wait for the replacement to come. Just like the trackwheel on older models, the trackball is crucial for moving and selecting items.

So there's not really a way to move down, without the trackball? I figured it would sort of be like a computer, where there is always a way to get around without using a mouse.

You may want to do a google search for 8300 shortcuts to see if there are any.

This is my biggest fear with the trackball being the only way to move around on my BB. I think I need to order a trackball assy and just have it here in case it ever needs replaced.

8300 Shortcuts:
Home Screen Shortcuts - BlackBerryFAQ

Requires that you have Dial from Homescreen disabled at Phone Dialer > Options > General Options.

You can press the GREEN key on your BB to get to the phone, then the menu key to open the menu, O for options > ENTER to select > ENTER again to select General Options > continue to press ENTER to scroll down the items until come to Dial from Homescreen, then press ALT to show the YES or NO options and space bar to switch between the two, you want NO.

Then save. And use the short cuts as described in the link.

Good luck.
