I just got the 8320 from T-Mobile. I did not purchase the data plan because at my University there is an open wifi network. However, a lot of applications and functions on the 8320 I have found do not work. Reading through the FAQs I saw that you could make these programs (AIM and others) by doing something with the TCP in advanced options.

Can anyone help do this because I am lost. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!

In the FAQs, you will find the APN settingss:

Pretty simple, follow the directions there.
You still will have only limited data and no internet browser without the Data Plan, but a few more 3rd party apps will work.

I tried those settings and still no luck. I saw over in the wifi forum (http://www.blackberryforums.com/wifi...-can-t-do.html) that people are being able to use Gmail application and AIM with wifi and no data plan. This is what I would like to be able to do.

I tried setting the APN to wap.voicestream.com and saved it. Nothing changed and I still could not access those programs. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

After setting the APN, did you pull the battery and reboot?

yea i pulled the battery and turned the device back on, no luck with gmail application...do i need to call t-mobile tomorrow and have them activate the free add-on plan or something?
