Install the edited ALX in the first post of this thread. You will have the icons then.
I installed the edited ALX file as posted. It did not restore MyFaves icon. It did give me the Themes from other vendors.

Any other suggestions?

Bbweather does not work on my 8320 after installing this os. I tried uninstalling and installing bbweather again but still a no go. I'm getting an open tunnel failure and yes I did input my APN again after upgradin os. Anyone have any ideas what's up
My BBWeather works as usual, no problems at all. Make sure you input you're " specific carrier " wap address info into: menu>options>advanced Options>TCP>APN>your carrier's wap address here.

For some reason my bluetooth connection between the 8320 and my Garmin c550 disconnects after a few minutes. I've tried different settings but can't resolve this. The upgrade didn't help

There are known issues with Bluetooth GPS units and 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 OS's from RIM. A fix has not been put out yet that I'm aware of.

Updated.

There was a 15 minute (or more?) delay just before "Restore device data." Endless hourglass on the Curve. I was going to give it another 15 minutes before wiping it and trying again. Then the restore proceeded, and activation went as normal and now all's well. Patience!

Yes, being impatient during a software upgrade is a very bad thing. Results in dead BB and lots and lots of threads here.

Just upgraded to .180 and now do not have the option to use internet browser. I only have t-zones and wi-fi browser available. Causing all sorts of problems. Any insights??

I also got the 523 error during the upgrade... seems like it might be an issue with this OS. After the reset, I just had to restore my data manually.

Yikes! On a call my phone rebooted 26 seconds in. That was with no Bluetooth and using WEP security on my Verizon Fios supplied Actiontec MI424-WR router.

Switched to my Linksys WRT54GS (running dd-wrt firmware) and then had a 38 minute call no problem. Again, non-bluetooth and using WEP. Tried WPA2 on that one and bluetooth and the call to voicemail was ok, but then the automated voice prompts started sounding in slow motion. Then it stopped but the call stuck and I could hear it again after turning the bt headset off.

WEP and bt on the Linksys work fine as far as I can tell. But I haven't chanced a long call on bt, just 10-15 minute ones.

So far this completely sucks. After upgrading I have no e-mail access (BES), no calendar or contacts sync, I'm in UMA for much less of the time, and my WiFi speed is so slow it's a joke.

What on earth is going on?

Were you connected to your corporate network when you did the upgrade? I am guessing that you were not. Therefore Enterprise Activation did not start automatically, so you have no connection to your BES.

Contact the BES administrators and ask to have an Enterprise Activation password created. Then go into Options / Advanced / Enterprise Activation and start the process.

I was connected, but I'll go and talk to them. Seems like it needs a kick start.

Thanks.

Just wondering why you have to configure ports. Most routers work fine out of the box.

I not only don't have my faves icons, I don't have any my faves stuff anywhere. Where did it go? Anyone walk me through this? All my applications got moved around too, I no longer have the browser on the home screen like I want it. Also the only options when in the browser program is wifi and tzone. My wifi also won't stay connected. I pull the battery and after being on for 10 seconds I lose the wifi right after connecting. My device is totally messed up here, I probably need to wipe it or something, I dunno!

I had to have a new enterprise activation with password done after the upgrade.

What exactly did this upgrade do? I see nothing different in my blackberry - and wifi UMA reception seems a little worse.

I installed it with no problems, but I don't see any difference over .175. I did notice after leaving my UMA from my house it took the phone a long tme to switch over to Edge. It took roughly 2-3 minutes and during that time my phone was only showing the SOS. I did a battery pull reboot and will see what happens tomorrow when I leave.

I'm curious. If I'm using a T-Mobile 8320 and downloaded/installed the official T-Mobile update, why should I have to install an edited ALX to get my icons back that never should have left in the first place? (other posters have noted that the edited ALX does not bring the icons back)

Also, I think some of you are confused. It's not that my MyFaves icon is missing. That is available and works fine. It's the goofy preloaded icons in the home>user>pictures>myFaves icons directory. The directory used to be filled with pictures that you could assign to MyFaves contacts, and now the folder is empty. Refreshing doesn't bring them back. It's not really a big deal, but I doubt it was intended to happen.

I had a similar negative experience. Never had this many number of issues with a blackberry upgrade.
1. First off - there was a point where I almost felt that the upgrade was not proceeding. This is the step right before restoring the data back after the os upgrade. Luckily for me, I was patient - but had to wait for almost 30 minutes with just an hourglass.
2. After the data was restored back and when it came back up, I got an error message about about one of the rim_xxx files. Unfortunately, I did not make a note of what it was.
3. Worse - after the upgrade, I had to reactivate BES. Never happened to me before that I had to reactivate BES
4. To top it all of, I had one automatic reboot - didn't know why. I wasn't even using the BB. Desktop Manager suddently lost connection and then i realized that the BB was rebooting.
Not a good experience

As mentioned in your "data ordered" thread, it *could* take up to 24hrs, it's rare, but it could happen.

Install went smoothly, but I had to have BES reactivated manually, too. Was easy enough, but administrator told me that, unless a patch/upgrade has something really important to offer, that applying them in the future will require the same manual process.

So far, all is normal as before.

Edit...admin told me to hold off applying updates unless it would really change something that needed to be changed. Fair enough, but I like to have the latest...
