Can I download music without using desktop manager?
I have a Curve on Blackberry Enterprise Server so I can't hook up to the desktop manager (because it will disconnect the wireless connection to BES). Is there any way to copy music to the Micro SD card and then listen to it on my Curve?

I appreciate any help.

Huh? Of course you can hook it up to Desktop Manager.
Not sure where you got that piece of information, but it's incorrect.

The Blackberry helpdesk that supports my company's use of the phone said that by hooking up to the desktop manager that it would break the wireless connection used to sync my phone and the BES. If that's broken, than I'd have to obtain another activation code and that could be a problem.

So, are they just telling me that to make sure I don't download music?

Who knows why they're telling you that. Maybe they don't know any better.
Be careful though. Using DM may be against your company policies and you may be putting your job at risk.

Absolute nonsense - however, Penguin's advice is sound.

So, I guess the question really is, if I download music directly to the MicroSD card, with the Curve see it and and let me play it?

I'm on a corporate BES with my 7520, and connecting with the cable does turn off the wireless radio every time. It is simply turned back on however using the "turn wireless radio on" app. Not sure why connection via the cable disables the radio on the device.

You should have no problem seeing the files once you put that card in. The card has to be formatted properly for your :bb: though, so make sure you cover that base. Then also, make sure you use proper file types!

Connecting to the Desktop Manager turns off your radio? That is just crazy.

However, connecting to the Desktop Manager DOES disable email redirection by default.

This is a setting for each user on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, and on your Desktop Manager under Redirection Settings (recently renamed to Email Settings).
