Wirelessly posted (Blackberry Curve: BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/107)

I know that using the GPS feature uses data to download the maps. For the next 3 months, I have unlimited data, so that is not a problem. However, if I drove from Toronto to New York, I would have to pay the roaming data for the BB to download the maps incrementely the entire way. Would this not cost a fortune? Any ideas?

The unlimited special only includes domestic data. Once you cross the border you'll pay the US roaming rate. The amount you use will depend on your usage, but it will cost per Kb
