Just switched from a HTC TYTN (Vario 2, SPV M3100) to a 8320. Very contrasting devices I might add. A few questions:

1. My work email is IMAP and I can get read and sent messages to sync with the folders on the IMAP server so that when I open outlook it is in sync with my BB, however is there anyway I can get mail in the inbox which shows read (as I viewed it on my BB) to show as sent/fowarded (as I sent/fwd it on my BB device)?

2. Also, can't I view the sent folder on my IMAP server to show up on the BB?

3. One issue I am having is viewing mail with graphics in them, they don't show up on my BB, is there a way round this? I find the browser useless for viewing webpages, is there another application I can download you would recommend?

4. Lastly, I noticed sent mail to my work address shows up instantly on my works outlook inbox but can take 3-10mins to show up on my BB, should T-Mobile (UK) be this slow?

Compared to an MDA Vario 2 I sometimes wonder if this is a better handset or not, as the email client doesn,t show all IMAP content and folders, as well as properly displaying graphics in e-mails. The browser also seems poor. I hope someone can prove me wrong and point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the reply, tried Empower but when I use the desktop manager it doesn't want to install. Another issue I have noticed today, is that my BB isn't always upto date. When I use outlook to delete a mail or reply, it still shows those emails as unread and undeleted on my device, any ideas?

Waz - probably the error message you got is 'No additional application... '. Its nothing to do with Empower but a RIM documented error -

You get this error if your Desktop version is older than the version on your Handheld. The recommended solution is to have the latest version of desktop manager as explained in the link above.

Also, you can install Empower directly on your Blackberry Over-The-Air (ie, without connecting to a PC or a Desktop Manager). For this, please visit http://www.getEmpower.com/ota using your BlackBerry Browser and follow the instructions on screen.

I had a similar problem and then learned from the forums to ensure that you're not emptying your deleted items folder right away when deleting e-mails. Basically, the BB needs to move items out of the inbox into another folder when it syncs. So if you delete on your Outlook and let the e-mail stay in your deleted items folder, the next time it reconciles (syncs), it will remove it from the BB Inbox and then you can empty the deleted items folder. If it disappears from your Outlook mailbox all together (delete from inbox and empty deleted items) then the BB doesnt know where to put the e-mail and just leaves it in it's inbox.

Another thing you might want to check is on the e-mail options in the BB, under "Email Reconciliation" the option for "On Conflicts" is set to "Mailbox Wins" and not "Handheld Wins".

Checked all my settings and they seem fine. I think the problem is that BB don't support 2 way reconicllation. Spoke to T-Mobile and they informed me that mail is automatically pushed to my handset and that if I delete or read mail on my IMAP server through my PC, it won't show up as that on the BB, was their isn't a proper 2 way reconcillation. The only thing the BB can do is delte mail in the handheld and inbox. Isn't much use to me as I have 100+ emails a day and if I have to delete them manually on the handset after reading them on the PC it is a pain.
