Default Help! 8310 screen will not stay off in standby

Please Login to Remove!

I just got the 8310 on Friday. I used to have the 8700, and used the case with a magnet. Now, just using a skin case.

I put use the mute key to put in standby. It says "Entering standby mode...." It goes dark.

But then, within 15 seconds, sometimes one second, the screen comes back to life for no reason.

If it goes to standby for 15 seconds, I can press all kinds of keys and stays standby. But then, the inevitable time passes and it is back awake.

Can someone help me please!

Thank you.

It's probably because you have some application running in the background. If you know what applications are open, click into them and explicity 'quit' or 'close' instead of using the phone off key. Otherwise, just power off completely and start back up again. I had this problem too and I think it was from having google maps on in GPS mode.

Hey, you rule. That was it.

I had GPS on google maps running in the background, and once I got rid of that, it went to sleep.

Thanks.

As I mentioned in another thread....try pressing the "alt" key and holding it while clicking the "Back" key...this will show you what is running...then use the click wheel while holding the "alt" key and highlight the app open you want to switch to...then use the menu button and scroll to the bottom and close it.
