Whatever you might think, I'm not here all the time either. Add to that, I'm in Canada so I'm not even that familiar with US carrier release dates. But, the VZW information is everywhere. They're the largest CDMA carrier in North America and information about the Curve on VZW both here, Boy Genius, Engadget, Howard Forums, Crackberry etc. is so rampant that it's hard to imagine that anyone has missed it by this point.
There is no more information about the release in May. It is the official word at this point. Sorry for pointing to the official source material for all this. Next time I'll know better.

So there you have...If I were betting I would bet that most people will not have this device until June.

Well from a business perspective, the sooner into May the better, so they may show good sales for the 2nd QT which would end June 30.

I just hope that it's in early May, and when I mean early May, I mean like Before WES begins! I want to be sporting one of these bad boys when i go to the conference. At least i'll have my Sprint Curve by then.. I just hope it aint after, but who knows, I got my grain of salt in hand.

I doubt that that is true...seeing as how it's all over their rebate forms now. And allegedly it was announced at CITA that it's coming out on April 30th.

more than likely the classic silver... there is a black version but i doubt it wont come out till later in an effort to boost sales similar to what vzw did with the pink pearl and the red 8800

so i have a treo 650 for 3 yrs now, been waiting for either the curve or centro. Curve is a definite, centro has rumors and it shows up on next vzw rebate form, but no formal announcement yet. Just trying to get peoples opinions on how these might stack up:
1. Battery life on the curve (not specs, but how does it really perform)? My 650 goes 3 days if I have minimal useage , say under an hr per day.
2. Phone radio quality. Does the curve get good reception
3. Programs. I use PDANET, and I see that is availabe for the curve. Also use some GPS with bluetooth gps (not for driving, but outdoor). Are there programs available for this? Directory assistant for lookup on palm is amazing. Finds phone numbers immediately. Equiv on BB? Google maps? IM (aol) program?
3. Reading pdfs, doc and xls and ppt files that are sent via email.
4. Browsing. How well does the rim browser show complex pages?
5. SMS. The palm sms program is fantastic. it keeps all threads. I can go back to a thread with someone that started a year or 2 or 3 ago.
Both phones have similiar form factors, the curve has better multimedia ie music features, uses a standard headset jack, and seems to have momentum. Palm has a great, easy to use OS, my 650 has been solid as a rock, but palm seems to be 'old' now. I use the phone mainly as a phone, not an email device, don't have exchange but just a pop, and only need email on the phone when i travel a week a month. If this should be in the curve forum, mod pls feel free to move it.

I contacted Verizon re: this. This was the response.
Thank you for the inquiry. We are still waiting on a quantity commitment from the
manufacturer so we can determine the day the device will be available for purchase.
The device should be available in early May but I can't guarantee the date.
Please watch our web site: Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, Cell Phone Accessories - Verizon Wireless for additional information.

No, we do not, that is a test device. Still no word on an exact date. Just wanted to show that it is a real device, not a myth.

I will believe it when I see it. The chatter is VERY similar to when the 8703e came out. Rumors were August... until the device arrived in September.

I'm with Dawg. What is so pretty about that Curve? Looks like a simple color scheme. Why couldn't they make it a cool black or titanium. This thing doesn't look nearly as sleek as my black and chrome 8830.

I agree that the sprint curve looks much better, but in the end, I'm faaaar more concerned about what it does for me than how it looks. Can't wait to put retire my 8703.

Yep, it has the 8830's screen size, with a better keyboard, in a more compact size, with a camera. Sounds better to me. I do agree with the others about the color scheme being pretty bland, but the phone does everything that I could want, and does it better than any smartphone that I've used.
