But technically, you could get the Curve on Sprint, and wait for Verizon to implement the "we'll take anyone's phone on our service" plan that they announced last year.
Of course, Verizon hasn't announced when that service will actually be available...

Doesn't work on the 8330 (yet). Just the cell tower triangulation, no GPS support in GMaps. Usually happens with a new OS so I suspect Google will have it addressed soon.

Found this on Engadgetmobile:
Verizon's BlackBerry Curve 8330 in pictures - Engadget Mobile
Seems like every Verizon store that I've been to says that they will not get the phone till late June.

What are the chances they'll have an all black one come out a couple months later like they did with the Motorola Q????

It isn't gps dead on. It is from the cell towers I guess. Is that what you mean? But it is enough for me to say get me from here to there and what's around.

verizon 8330 -
04-26-2008, 10:28 AM
OK, its almost the end of April and still no "offical" release date.
starting to worry that release date wont be till late May.
As for the color, the black in the Sprint Curve is not all that.
what would of been nice would be the black and chrome color
on the first 8100.

AllTel gets the Curve on May 1st. Verizon will get it the same day, if not April 30.

Some of you have sent me Pm's asking if I had any info on the release date and also pricing, well just got off the phone and apparently Verizon has pushed back the phone a little bit, this is till the weekend of mothers day. Why ? I was told At&t is having a large mothers day promotion and Verizon wants to have competition with them and they will be releasing the Env2 and curve the weekend of May 10th. This also includes online ordering. I was also told by my contact that the pricing has changed a bit. More details when they come available.

Yet more speculation
All we know for certain is it did not come out on April 20th, as was originally divined/conjured.

I am changing jobs next week to somewhere I need to be able to check my email from my phone. I want the curve but need a phone before the 10th. Should I just get an 8830 and when the curve comes out just say I didn't like the 8830 and swap to the curve?

Nj Blackberry believe what you want, I am just passing on info. At&t is in fact having a major Mothers day sale the weekend of mothers day. Verizon to meet that competition is doing the same but with the release of those two devices and also with some price drops on other phones that are out. Verizon has given a May release, and mothers day is in may.
It is inside info from a very confirmed source of mine, and I am going on it. Come on Mothers day.

verizon curve -
04-27-2008, 01:30 AM
it dont make sense for Verizon to release the curve on the same day
that AT&T will have there sale. more people will jump on the AT&T sale
because the curve will be new and come with a full price tag. if anything,
Verizon should release the curve before hand to rack up all the sales before
AT&T have there sale.

I'm hopeful that this phone will be out before the 16th of May. Either it is or I'll have to check out the HTC touch.... I don't want to go that route though..... Anyone hear anything new in regards to a real release date?

I have my day all planned out, "Hey Mom, happy mom day, now lets head over to VZW and get you that new BB you always wanted"
"Oh son you are so great"...
What a bunch of B.S. Just release the damn phone already...

I don't believe these rumors about mother's day. I think that the big cell phone sites are trying to cover themselves just in case it isn't released. I spoke to my business guy today and he was pretty confident that it will be coming out Friday or Monday.
Just my .02, but then again I don't have my own website...

Because there are many more people with a lot more knowledge on this website that might tell me something I don't know. Like that Verizon might give me grief about wanting to swap 3-7 days later.

Wirelessly posted
My point, yota, is that buying something with the intent to return is unethical. The return policy should be used when truly necessary and not taken advantage of. Leads to higher costs for everyone.

if you need a bb by the tenth, you have to ask yourself, who's faught is it that vzw dosent have the curve by now???? i would totally get the 8830 then exchange it if you want for the curve

I've taken that approach, this phone has been out for a year on other carries, so like most phones that are cool Verizon seems to be the last to get cool phones, so we've been waiting for a year or so, so whats another week or month????

And that is why you are not a true BB fanatic, because those of us who love our BB's CAN'T wait to have the latest a greatest releases, even if it is a year after everyone else got it...
So don't question what you don't understand, I am also a miserable suffering Met fan so that may help you see where I am coming from...hehehehe
