Default Got My 8330 Today - 05-06-2008, 03:09 PM

Got my phone this AM. Quickly got it sync'd with my exchange and am loving it. Unfortunately the Empower BES Mailbox software I had on my 8830 doesn't work on the new one as it is OS 4.3... Other than that I love the phone.

Looks like it is officially on the Verizon website. They list VZ Navigator as an option and I am curious if you need the picture messaging plan to send pics via email.

The local verizon store said that they will have the curve next week, wondering if anyone is getting the same response from their local stores.

Well you never know with Verizon. I think we all know their track record in the past with locking down the phone so you have to pay extra. I love their service but I hate the fact that they control totally what you can do. Sprint allows you to use the built in GPS....what a great idea. Let the customer use what the phone is built for. Hopefully they wont play and games with the Wi-Fi either.

If I go through the upgrade online the only offer they give me is some 50 mail in rebate, for some reason, even though I haven't upgraded my phone in 2 years, I don't get any discount for it. I even opted for the 44.99 unlimited plan and they didn't discount me for that either. I don't get it.

According to the specs on the VZW website, the 8330 will support the 8GB SDHC cards.

Now hold on there try and send a MMS with a sprint 8130 and see what happens you cant use MMS at all but hey you can find the person you want and drive to their house to show them the pic.

The phone wasnt built for GPS its built as a email device with all the extra stuff attached.

Kinda like when you use a set of pliers to hammer with..

Question about consumer pricing.....

I am NOT eligible for the New Every2 credit. So therefore I would be purchasing the device at the full retail cost of $429.99.

Am I supposed to get any credits for having a data plan? Do employee discounts apply to devices?

What prices are you other guys paying without the contract extension/NE2??

TIA

I don't get the New Every Two since I'm not the main phone on the account, so it would be like $240 or something like that for me. Not worth it to me. How did you get it so cheap?

Not exactly Dawg. I am just saying that in the past some of the features that users really want to use were unavailable. Kind of like buying a hammer and not being able to use it to pull nails. I am a business customer and this is first off a phone and email device for me. However, if the functionality is there then why not let the users us it.

Not sure who else does it. But I can tell you that the google maps feature without GPS works great if you more or less know the area you are in. It has helped me many times.

The primary purpose of the device is as dawg says, email, and of course the phone. Beyond that are bonuses.
