i haven't really followed the curve details...compared to the 8130 "pearl 2" from verizon, what will the curve offer above and beyond aside from the full qwerty keypad?

A simple search of the FCC website database shows that no CDMA BB applications have been filed since the 8830. The latest filing was a few days ago and appears to be a Pearl GSM + WiFi.

While definitely not promising, the lack of FCC documentation does not always mean that there is something not on the horizon. It's happened many times before.

No. The FCC filing, in recent times, typically happens within one month of US release.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

The 8130 should have been filed after the 8830. It was several months between the two releases.

Bigger screen, full QWERTY. It isnt much but it is importent to a lot of people.

The full keyboard is very important. I don't mind suretype, but in certain instances it can be frustrating (acronyms, serial numbers etc.) and now that there is a full keyboard bb with close to the same dimensions as the pearl (and a bigger screen to boot) it is a very appealing device. Just wish one of the faster networks would pick it up!

according to a reputable member of HoFo, the Curve will be out Q2 for Verizon based on internal announcements to Verizon employees.

It also appears that the Canadian CDMA carriers will be picking it up near the end of Q1 or early Q2 which further reinforces the rumour. Here's to hoping for March!

I'll have my Pearl tomorrow. I am going to stop into an AT&T store to compare them. If I like the Curve better, I may return the Pearl and wait for it.

I'm predicting that Pearl is going to returned at some point in the near future. Call it a hunch.

Wasted dreams my friend. Not going to happen any time soon. I doubt we'll ever see a Curve with that functionality.

It is possible that Sprint's Curve will have support for qchat, which will bo compatible with DC.

Hey purephase,

Since it is now Feb. 1st, then the CDMA Curve might still be released sometime in Q1 (I hope). However, since RIM and Rogers Wireless in Canada jointly announced a GSM version of the BB 8110 Pearl on Jan. 31st, it's only a matter of time that RIM will announce the CDMA Curve.

Maybe at WES which is being held in Orlando, Florida in May (13-15). It seems like such a long time to wait for this 'baby.'

Keep on Crackin',

I spoke to the rep who has been right on with the last 3 BB releases and she told me...

Wait for it.....

She just got back from Curve training....da dida da....

The last time they were trained on a BB (Pearl) it was released 3 weeks later...

So sit on that one for a few more weeks. Hope she goes 4 for 4 on her BB info...

As much as I wish it were true, 3 weeks is an extremely hopeful date. I think we would have more information in these forums and on bgr if this were true.
