The black (fake) version would be NICE...

But it looks by all accounts and by what is up on the VZW site, we are looking at the silver version in MAY...

Here's to waiting another 4 weeks...hoo hummm...

I just can't believe that Sprint will beat VZW to market with this thing? I guess the April 20th date for Sprint will get pushed back, hehehehe...

Default VZX states Curve will allow "other" navigation options... - 03-31-2008, 12:47 PM

from the Electronista announcement today:

Verizon early on Monday became the first North American carrier to launch the BlackBerry Curve 8330. The smartphone is the first Curve capable of 3G by using the carrier's EVDO network and adds all the improvements of the 8310 used on GSM phone networks, highlighted by the native GPS receiver: the device can either use Verizon's own VZ Navigator for driving directions or an alternate solution for mapping. Research in Motion's updated BlackBerry also brings a 2-megapixel camera, a native 3.5mm headphone jack, and an externally accessible microSDHC card slot for up to 8GB of storage.

Hmmm. THis was not in the VXW press release today.

I wouldn't go by anything an outside company says. I believe they are only liable by law on official publications.

Your response doesn't surprise me. I wonder when the items would hit the retailer. Usually, the first round of purchases come from the main office and you have to order through them.

BlackBerry - BlackBerry Curve

Verizon Wireless Introduces the BlackBerry Curve Smartphone

These are the sources I came across pointing to a May release. I just got a 8130 and would consider returning it and waiting for the curve since my 30 day return window closes April 14th. But What are the chance it will be a long wait.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

To the last poster, am confident that you will have a definitive day well before your deadline. That has been the pattern in the past. In addition, Apple announced something with their iphone today that caused RIM to take a hit in the markets. The bb people and other carriers do not want any uncertainty with their products. .

We are not disputing the May date. I think the poster wanted an exact date.

Just gonna ask this preemptively...

Anybody know how hard it will be to change the case out on these new CDMA Curves? I don't really mind the silver color, but i think i'm in love with the darker case on the Sprint model.

Just wanted to see if the knowledge pool here might have any insight on case options. I know there is a company that paints BB's, but I really would rather just buy and swap the darker color on my VZW Curve if that is a possibility.

Please accept my apologies if this is veering from the topic at hand, or a little trigger-happy since the 8330 is not even out yet.

Thanks.

I know this may be a very weak question, but does anyone know if VZW will release this 8330 in Red?

I am a bit tired of the silver lineup, I like the pearl i have in silver, but the Sprint Black is much nicer and since Sprint does the black thing, and verizon seems to do Pink and Red...

How long before it is released in Red??? Any thoughts???

my thoughts exactly...i've been looking at that canadian site that carries oem replacement cases and so far they just have a category and no content. considering the sprint phone comes out first they should have some black oem cases before the vzw comes out.

VZW 8330 (Curve) - Current BB
VZW 8130 (Pearl) - Hidden in a box.
VZW 8703e - Went down the toilet.

good question, im wondering if cnn.cn will have the red case before vzw comes out with it, the other 8300s have a diff body style than the 8330 so you wouldnt be able to swap cases with a red 8310 replacement case

Why is Verizon's version not the same as TELUS up here? Our 8330 has 96MB memory and Rev.A ...... weird why it wouldn't be the same? And its available on the 7th of April.

Wiki to the rescue.
So Vzw is capable of Rev A on their networks but phones are either Rev 0 or A?
Is Rev B in use anywhere, it says its just a software upgrade.

Dont always trust wiki, They are right on this one but have been know to be wrong about alot of other things. You do know that anyone can edit wiki. its so easy to change I very rarely ever trust it.

The only Rev A capable devices that VZW uses are the air cards. All the phones are Rev 0

I think Sprint updated the Moguel to Rev A though... Or one of their PDA phones anyway.

7280 > 7290 > 8700c > 8100 > 8800 > iPhone (??) > 8320.....and i'll just keep going.

I am going to go out on a limb here....and say that if I were a betting man (which I am) I would bet that if the release actually happens in May it will be on the 30th of May. If not expect a release push back to June.

So there you have...If I were betting I would bet that most people will not have this device until June.
