Default Any word on when Verizon will get the 8300 / 8330 Curve? - 10-29-2007, 09:07 AM

Trying to decide whether to get the 8830 now (I don't like the keyboard) or wait and hope they come out with the 8330 Curve soon.

Doubt it. Seems Verizon likes the silver as both the recent 8830 and upcoming 8130 are both in silver.

Sorry, I really like the silver/enameled finish of my new Pearl. It's one of the things which makes it stand out from the rest. And it makes it appear "richer" imho.

After my very positive experience with the Pearl, I too am awaiting the quick release of the Curve (I want the Wi-Fi, and perhaps the larger screen), though I'd be reluctant to give up the small form factor of the Pearl.

It seems that Verizon has chosen silver as the 'theme' for these 8xxx series phones, so that would be my strong expectation for the Curve.

How about blue or red? The AT&T 8310 is a really nice color.

I'm really looking forward to the curve on VZW

Completely baseless prediction but I think we'll be hearing something within the next month or so.

sadly you're probably right. I tried a tmobile curve for a couple days and really enjoyed the WiFi. If verizon gets one with a gps they'll only disable it and make us use the vznavigator product for $10 a month. what a ripoff.

Got my 8830 about 10 days ago. Still have some time until I can return it to VZW. 8830 is okay, but I found the keypad too slipperly.
I really hope I hear something in January time period.

Damnit. A Q3 release on Verizon would almost certainly impact the to-market date in Canada as well.

This is not good news.

I just got off the phone with Verizon Wireless. I was inquiring about the Curve and the person stated that they are launching 8310 on 21st of January.
It's strange because everyone is talking about 8830 but the information I got was 8310....

Has anyone heard anything similar?

God I hope you are right. I need to switch out my 8703e really bad. I don't like the 8830 World Edition though.....too big and bulky. Curve is the way to go.

there is no way verizon is launching the 8310. the 8310 is GSM. *if* they launch anything, which hasnt been substantiated at all, it will be the 8330.

That is why I was surprised...

I thought it was going to be 8330... after being on the phone for couple of minutes... customer service person stated that it's 8310 and it's launching on 21th........

Well we will have to wait and see.. but hopefully they will come out with the curve because my 30 day window for 8830 is running out soon..... don't want to go back to VX6700.....

Perhaps they are mistaken for the SMT5800? Candy Bar with sliding QWERTY? (Windows Mobile) That phone is supposed to drop next Monday.

not to be a pessimist but i'll believe it when i see it. don't you think there would be SOME sort of leak 4 days prior to this "launch?"

the naming they are using cannot be correct. 8310 is the ATT Curve 2 as its called. It has to be an error on their part. Seems like they are confusing the 8330 and 8130 to make 8310 maybe?

I've spoken to two store managers this week and both said "maybe the end of first quarter, most likely sometime in second quarter". One also said that Verizon would probably be releasing phones quicker since they're opening up their network to all outside devices. We'll see...

man I love the rumor mill. I heard from a guy on the corner who was told by the guy at the bait shop, who knows a guy in brooklyn, who delivered some fish to this other guy whose sister was sleeping with a guy, whose cousins sisters nephews best friend said that verizon was going to put out the new blackberry sometime in the fall.

Yeah Dawg, but most rumors have a basis in fact. And two BlackBerry using VZW corporate store managers (from two different stores) saying the same thing isn't quit the same thing as the fish guy's sister that fornicates with a guy who's relatives have a friend that says...

I find store Managers will say anything to get a sale too. The RIM people I talked to said that VZW hasnt even decided yet as to carry it or not. As a matter of fact I will be at his house later today and I will ask again.

Rumor mill on the Verizon forum on HoFo seems to heading back to the late Q1/early Q2 timeline that everyone was originally talking about.

Also, there's talk of a Sprint model that is in the final stages of testing.

All rumors and speculation, of course. Just thought I'd pass it along.

The only thing more excruciating than waiting for VZW to get the curve, was waiting for Nextel to get the 8700.

I'm so glad I switched to VZW a year ago. If I were still with Nextel, i probably would have shot myself.

C'mon curve!

If we are really looking at end of Q1 start of Q2 where are our spy shots???

Jibi, BGR, send out your VZW Ninjas and get us some photos...you guys are usually all over this stuff...

I like the Pearl 8130, but the key board is not as intuative as I was told. It is a nice go betweeen while waiting on the next device.

If VZW is listening and you guys want to skip the Curve, then just float us out a new 9000 series and we'll call it a day...

First to want it, last to get it...

Now my questions hopefully is will this just be a full fledge cdma device? or hybrid like the 8830! If it is a hybrid, which it's still unclear, this would be great, since we need international bb support! (our company only has contracts with VZW)

I just talked to the VZW data specialist for my market and he said the Curve will be released in March sans wifi...but with GPS (likely locked to vznav only).

So...cross your fingers....

He's usually in the know though since he does that training for all data devices for all the stores in this area.

7280 > 7290 > 8700c > 8100 > 8800 > iPhone (??) > 8320.....and i'll just keep going.
