Default Voicemail...holding down "1" no longer works. - 10-29-2007, 07:29 PM

Since downloading v4.2.2.180, I can no longer hold down "1" to call my Voicemail. Did a little searching and haven't come up with a solution.

Holding down "1" now says "Invalid phone number"

Who is your provider?

You can try programming you cell number to get to voicemail or contact provider to get appropriate VM number

Provider is T-Mobile.

I have the VM number that I can easily call, but it's not as easy as holding down the "1" key, which is how the phone is supposed to function...that's all I want.

Try reassigning the speed dial to the 1 key

Speed dial works when dial from homescreen is off, which is a good thing!

Go to the Phone page. Hit the menu key and select "View Speed Dial List." Scroll down to the W key and delete the entry (even if it's already blank.) Then reboot the phone by removing the battery. The speed dial should automatically reload. It will automatically reload the number that is stored in >Phone >Options >Voice Mail.

I was having the same problem, and am getting around it by programming the "W" in the Speed Dial List to the number for voice mail. It does prevent you from adding another number to that speed dial slot...but it also fools the BB in to doing what you want it to do.

John, I'm having the identical problem as described all of a sudden. When I scroll down as you suggest above, I only see numbers listed 1-9, no "W Key", unless I'm not understanding your instructions. Please advise with thanks.

The W and 1 keys are the same on full qwerty models. For your suretype 8100, delete the entry for the 1 key, and it should work.

Excellent! I love being able to find a solution by searching. I had mucked by Curve up somehow, and couldn't sync w/outlook, something about duplicate entries in the calendar. So I reloaded a backup I had made a couple of weeks ago, and when finished, I had no browser icon and my voice mail speed dial didn't work. A battery pull solved the browser icon, but I couldn't figure out the VM speed dial.

Thanks all!
