Default Update Failed...BB Seems Dead-Please Help

Please Login to Remove!

I just tried updating my 8300. It gave me a fatal error. It appears as though the USB connection dropped while the upgrade was happening. The phone now has a blank screen and the LED is flashing red. I tried the JL-CMDR program. It would not connect to the device to wipe it. The desktop Manager also cannot connect to it.

Any clues? I appreciate the help.

Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ is your friend.

What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ

Try this - it has worked when the BB is left in a condition where JL_CMDER can't open the port.

I tried all that. I do not even get an option for USB port. Only COM6. When I click "next" it tells me a connection to the device could not be established.

I'm in the same boat with my 8320. Just no way to get the phone to read at all on the computer. The USB had been showing, but once it hit the mode where the screen is completely dead with a steady red indicator light (which changes to flashing red eventually) the USB connection will not read at all. I should note that instead of a few seconds of solid red indicator light mentioned in the FAQ, I get maybe 2 mintues before it starts flashing red.

I've tried all the ways to get it to read with the exception of using a different computer. Since I'm out of the country that's not really an option.

I got it to connect. I removed and re-inserted the battery, and then immediately plugged in the USB cable. After multiple attempts, it connected, and I was able to get the AppLoader to show USB Unknown. The procedure in the Faq in the second post to this thread then worked.
