Default Jogging - Best armband case & headset?

Please Login to Remove!

I want to start using my new 8320 when jogging and at the gym. Can anyone recommend a good armband solution? Most of my shorts don't have pockets and the clip cases never seem to hold on well enough, so I end up with armbands. I've looked around and haven't seen a good armband for the curve.

Also, are there any good wireless headsets out there suitable for jogging? I've seen mixed reviews for the Motorola ROKR S9. I don't necessarily need to call using them, but it would be a plus.

Thanks!

I like my S9, but I'd recommend a headband (warm weather) or beanie (cold weather) to go with it (unless you have deep and tight ear canals).

I just picked up an Ipod Classic armband. The curve and the ipod classic are approximately the same size. I'm going to have to cut out the front clear plastic that covers the keyboard (so it doesn't inadvertently push keys) and punch a few holes in the neoprene where the headphone jack and volume keys are. It was $29.999, so I'm taking a risk on screwing it up and losing the money, but I haven't found any alternative for purchase that is made for the curve. I like listening to music and having my phone and email with me on runs, especially if I'm going to be gone for over an hour.

I'll post back and report on how well it works.

In the meantime, if any of you know of any made-for-curve solutions, let me know.

Well, I found some generic armbands on ebay that were designed for larger PDAs/blackberries. They are cheap and I'm going to try one of them. I have no interest in one with an open face. I don't want to advertise to the world I'm running around with a $300 smartphone. I live in a decent area, but still prefer to be on the cautious side.

I will post an update with my thoughts once I receive it.

Okay, I just got the armband I ordered off ebay. It came over from China and took about a week and a half to arrive. It cost $8.33 delivered to my door.

It's basically a camera case with an armband/velcro strap. You know what, though? It works.

It's supposedly designed for the blackberry, but there is enough wiggle room once the curve is strapped in that you can tell it's really just for any smartphone. I do like that it conceals the entire phone. Some of the bands had an open face. I have no need for that. I will just set my music to shuffle and go. Plus I like the fact that I'm not advertising the fact I'm running around with a $300 phone on my arm. I suppose most will think I'm running around with a $200 ipod, but it still gives me a little peace of mind.

There is a zipper pouch right behind where the slot that the phone straps into. I'm not sure what I would want to carry in there (extra battery?), but it's there nonetheless.

I took my own picture but decided the seller's picture is a bit better, so I'm showing that one. It is here:

My own pic is here:

Anyway, I'm happy with the purchase and just wanted to pass this along to anyone that might be looking for something.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

Thank you for sharing. My hope is to find something where I can look at it without removing or even to adjust the media player. I did a half marathon with earphones attached to the device and the device in my pocket.

Anyone use those sport ear phones that wrap?

Find any other holders to use while jogging?

You may want to try the IOgear stereo BT2 headset - on-ear (not in-ear like an earbud) clip-style (like on an airline, but much better) with a twin-band hook (solid outer, rubber inner, good grip, stays put) & just an adjustable length of wire to go behind your neck.

I tried the iPod Classic jogging armband, and it would have worked well with a minor modification (razor blade to modify the front cut-outs), but I decided I didn't like wearing an armband while jogging. iPod Classics and BB Curves are the same size. Now I just use one that I can clip onto my shorts and I am very happy. It is actually an iPod neoprene clip-on that I bought at the Apple store and modified with a razor blade. You can probably find a clip-on that is made for the BB though (or even just use a holster). If you want the armband, go with the iPod Classic neoprene one and modify it.

Default Another armband alternative...

I too was looking for an armband for my Curve. Decided to pick up the iSnug Armband for Ipods. Only $10 at Overstock.com:

iSnug Armband for iPod, 3g iPod Nano or iPod Classic from Overstock.com

Only modification I'll need to make is a hole on the side for the headphone jack, but that'll be easy since it's neoprene.
