This is my second time trying, here's some background info:

$9.99 H@H plan

When I walk in with WiFi turned on (tegether with/without the network) UMA comes on with no problem, phone calls no problem, standing inside or outside. I try to go on the browser and it tells me I do not have the provision to access T-Mobile/Starbucks browser. I can go on here at work or at home, I have not tried other Hotspot locations except the airports (worked in NJ, St. Louis, N/S Carolina).

Do I have to have a data plan (I think the answer is no if I am using a WiFi and for that matter a Hotspot location).

Open the browser and go to 'Options'. Then click on 'Browser Configuration' and set your browser to Wi-Fi Browser. Then go to your Bookmarks and click on the 'Wi-Fi Hotspot Login' and see if it works.

Just an FYI I subscribe to the $19.99 T-Mobile BIS and H@H. When at a Starbucks I of course switch to UMA and have WiFi Internet access available on my 8320. I wanted to try a few things out and also learned I can connect my BB to my laptop and get HotSpot at no charge.

I don't subscribe to H@H and I can surf all day long at Starbucks and make UMA phone calls.

My only thought is the Email only account option the OP has. Do you think TMO is doing any checking against your account for WiFi data?

Yeah, I missed that small, important piece of info. I'm agree with troy that with the email plan only, you won't be able to surf the web at a hotspot. It's only $10 more for the full BIS plan. You're saving that on the H@H plan anyway since that is regular price $19.99. Why not just jump to the full plan?
