Default 8310 Logs Disappearing AND How to Move Apps?

Please Login to Remove!

Three questions, that I think are somewhat related. I searched and could not find any information.

1)My SMS and MMS and Call Logs are disappearing every few days. I have it set to save both forever, is there any reason why they would be becoming lost randomly?

2)A friend told me the device is probably running low on space, is there anyway to transfer already installed applications from the device to my SD card? I can't find info on doing that anywhere.

3)At least once every other day or so, I'll get the hourglass stuck and have to pull the battery. Any reason why this is happening? I've had the phone for only 6 days.

Specs:
File Free: 6,809,226 Bytes
File Total: 54,919,168 Bytes

Apps Installed:
Opera Mini Browser
JiveTalk (With chat logging enabled)
ESPN Mobile
Facebook for Blackberry
mediaPlayer
Blackberry Messenger
Google Maps
Streaming Music
And all of the default programs, minus TeleNav

Thanks for the help

You are running low on memory. There isn't a way to move applications to the media card, but you can put any pictures or music there.

Look at this FAQ: Why is my BlackBerry losing its call logs or message logs? - BlackBerryFAQ

It shows for the 8100 but will apply for the 8310.

1.) yes, low memory

2.) No, applications must remain in device memory.

3.) The hour glass is most likely do to memory. 6mb is too low. You need to get it up into the 15mg range. You can do this by following the link listed below. Make sure all media is stored on the SD. Always close programs being careful not to leave them running in the background.

Good Luck!

All of my pictures and ringtones are saved to my 2GB card. The only things saved to the device are the 8 apps. Can 8 apps really take up that much space?

What's the ideal free memory to be running at all times?

You need to remove all of the un-used languages, sample video and audio to make room for those applications that you are installing. Please review the link and follow the instructions. I don't have your model so I don't know the magic number but I'm guessing it's between 15mg and 20mg.

Thanks for the links.

I just went in and deleted the Sample Video (14mb!!) and Help. I cannot find unused languages anywhere.

My free space jumped from 6,809,226 Bytes to 19,444,446 Bytes and it's already starting up faster.

Sorry for being such a n00b, this is my first BlackBerry device though and I've only had it for a week!

You won't be a noob for long! Looks like you are well on your way! Just be sure to check it periodically and do a hard reset once a week. Your lost data and lags will be a thing of the past!

Just freeing up the 14mb will make all the difference in the world. The Blackberry is not running a Xeon processor so close what programs you are not using and do a hard reset every week and you should be fine.

GO DAWGS!

Thanks again for the help, everyone!

A hard reset is just taking out the battery, correct?

Oh, and Go Gators!

(I know, can't really say anything to you this year haha...)

Okay, this is really frustrating. My free space has dwindled back down to 9,000,000 bytes and I don't know why. I'm a heavy user of JiveTalk, but I turned off chat logging and I'll exit long chats frequently.

Do I have a buggy device or am I misusing my Curve? Do I need to exit/close every app when I'm done with it instead of just going back to my main screen?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Yes, you will want to try and close your programs instead of leaving them open.
