I am new to the Blackberry world and would like to get rid of my Ipod. I would like to buy a Micro SD card for my 8310 and would like it to be as big as possible. I have thousands of songs and hundreds of downsized photos that I would like to carry around with me.

Does anyone know the latest?

although i only got my BB yesterday (my friends have had theirs for quite some time) i dont think the BB would be good as a replacement to an ipod. if you want a phone that is more of a "toy" then get yourself an iphone.

I use a 4GB microSD card in my Curve. Many report no problems with larger capacity microSD cards (ie 6gb). I believe 8GB the largest currently available and it should work.

The Curve is great to use as a music player. I have 80 CD's on my 4GB card with room for photos and ringtones!

Ultimately it will support up to 32 GB memory cards but that will be sometime down the road

yea, for now it only supports 4gb...i put a 6gb in there and it wouldnt read it....when i formatted my 6gb inside the BB, it formatted it as a 1.6gb card! i had to use a 3rd party application to format it back to its original size. I would assume with the 4.3 OS release it will be able to handle 6gb+ cards.

I can't find anyone locally who sells larger than 4GB, so for now that will do. I am going to pick it up tomorrow morning.

Next question......

Is there a maximum bit rate for MP3's? I prefer the higher sound quality of 320 kbps, but I remember that one of the websites that I read before purchasing stated that (I think) the Pearl would only play songs at 128 kbps. Am I correct in remembering that? Is there a limit for the 8310? I can't seem to find it.

T-mobile told me that before the end of the year the 8Gb is coming out on the market. That can hold a lot date i.e., pictures, music, movies etc.

For now, 4GB is the biggest card confirmed to work.
