I'm currently using an 8300 with no problems, but I want to upgrade to the 8310 (for the GPS). I'm on ATT and they will switch the BBs for me. When the new 8310 arrives, can I just swap the media cards and SIM cards in the old 8300 into the new 8310, or is there software specific for the GPS on the 8310? If so, I'll have to re-sync the new 8310 with our work Exchange server, etc....

Here is what I would do:

Backup the old device

Insert sim and mem card from old device into new device. Don't turn on the wireless radio yet.

Restore the backup from the old device to the new device.

Turn on the wireless radio and then activate on your BES.

Once that's done you'll still need an application installed to use GPS. BBMaps can be downloaded from http://mobile.blackberry.com. You can also use Google Maps found at Google Maps.

If you want a better turn by turn, voice prompted application then you can use TeleNav but there is a $9.95 per month subscription for TeleNav. Nice program, though.
