You'll get used to it. I wanted the same thing when I first got a BB three years ago, but now I like the vibe first...I rarely hear my ringtone as I always get the phone before it rings. It's nice.

I agree...I was very disappointed at first, but now that I am used to the vibrate then ring, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Does anyone know if nokia has a patent on this? I haven't seen any other manufacturers implement it so I figure they must.

Try this...
Set it to vibrate one time and then ring one time.
So you get vibrate ring vibrate ring vibrate ring vibrate ring since it loops the cycle.

It wont be an exact overlap, but unless you are really really bothered by this then it should make you happy.

I really like the vib then ring because sometimes I can catch it before it rings if I'm some where and I forgot to turn the thing on silent.

That is incorrect information. It will vibrate THEN ring. it will not cycle around over and over again.

Vibrate only, Vibrate THEN ring, ring only or none.

oh...oops!
yeah, I just experimented with it.
It vibrates, rings rings........(voicemail).

I guess the 8320 doesn't do this but I could've sworn one of my Blackberries few years ago looped the cycle until voicemail. I want to say it was the 7280.

I wonder why it doesnt loops the vibrate-ring cycle until voicemail picks up?
That just don't make sense to have the setting to choose the amount of vibrations and rings you want and just have it do just that.

I know there must be a setting somewhere....

Hate to differ here but...

My Red 8310, running the latest OS does the following when I set it to Vibe+Ring:

Bzz...Bzz..Ring...Bzz...Bzz..Ring..

All my other BB's did this:

Bzz..Bzz..Ring..Ring..Ring..

So there has been a change here!

HA! I do stand corrected! I just toyed with my settings on the 8310, it is possible to have Vib Vib Ring, Vib Vib Ring as stated. It is apparently a new feature of OS 4.2.2. I don't recall it being possible in OS 4.2.1.

However of course, if you have a long ringtone of 15-20 seconds, don't expect to have much time to cycle back around to the second set of vibrates. I tested it a short ringtone and it did cycle back.

Thanks for letting us know... one more thing to remember now.

I have a question about the vibrate/ring function...... the only way to switch between vibrate and ring is to go to applications/profiles? I can't change an option somewhere that will allow me to change from vibrate to ring with the volume keys on the side?

well the shortest way i know of changing the ring profiles is to have ur theme set on either the "BB dimension Today" or the "BB dimension Zen" and all u have to do is scroll ur track ball to the right and then ur little speaker/siren will be highlighted and just click and change! i use the "today" theme cuz i like to have my upcoming appointments shown. hope that helped
