Or you might want to install desktop manager with custom option and install Certificate Sync so that you can see all the root certificates...there should be one called T-Mobile something...make sure there is a green checkmark in front of it.
thank you; i don't get the message anymore.

That darn "G" in GSM stands for Global.

Now, if you switch to CDMA, you are almost guaranteed that the update will be from a US based carrier. Not 100%, but a lot.

On my 2nd curve because first one a letter stopped working and I had this version on my 2nd and finally downgraded earlier today. I kept having random restarts that I could not figure it out why so I hope downgrading will stop it from happening,

Nope. Rumor I've heard is sometime in Q1 2008. I doubt we'll see it this year.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; Google Wireless Transcoder;))

Bummer! Is there an official document stating the release notes of that new OS?

I had a random reboot yesterday while playing a xvid file... hasn't done it at any other time, but the file was a 320x180 @ 520kpbs xvid... might have been too much for the BB to handle for an extended period of time?

My bad... I just checked and i have OS 180, not 184.

Were your reboots related to UMA or not related?

I think you're right about UMA seeming more stable after the recovery from the flooding. Maybe they were on hold with some update and decided to throw it in when they could blame downtime on the storm.

After first update to .184 several weeks ago, I had to coax it to connect to UMA on 2 occassions, but now I don't have to do anything. The phone does it by itself. Still has a hard time with some hotel wireless routers though.

My only reboot has been while on UMA, on a call, and typing an email at the same time.

It will do it, but you should do a manual backup from Desktop Manager yourself in case there's some power failure or something else unplanned. Takes hardly any time.

It depends on the OS release and what handset you have. The BB device itself has a vendor code embedded inside (I assume on a chip of some sort?); if the vendor ID of your device matches the vendor ID of the downloaded firmware (i.e. you own a T-Mobile USA handset and downloaded the T-Mobile USA firmware) then there is no need to delete this file, everything will just work because the vendor IDs match. If they *don't* match though (i.e. you own a T-Mobile USA handset and downloaded AT&T firmware), you must delete vendor.xml so that the desktop software will load the "mismatched" firmware onto your device.

Default Updating from .180 - 12-20-2007, 10:45 PM

I'm downloading this now to update my t-mo 8320 .180. I'll check back if there are any problems.

** update **

The DM found the update fine but I got an error message when going to the apploader saying "The application "blackberry PGP Email Library" cannot be loaded because it required the following applications that are not available: net.rim.platform.ecmascript

I downloaded a different os recently from these formus that gave me the same error to which I thought that maybe it was a CDMA version instead of a GSM. I don't think that's the problem becasue the thread creator has t-mob noted in his profile.

I'm also using DM 4.3.

Any thoughts or help on how to correct this?

Telkomsel (I have no idea where they are) has also release .184, it's a Chinese variant as well.

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...2B6EA7A23A56D2

Platform/etc. all match, it's the same software.

It sounds like something is wrong with the installation somewhere. I would recommend reinstalling Desktop Manager and then download the OS file again and reinstall it and try again.

I succesfully downloaded this about hour ago without any problems. The device seems much more responsive than with .180. It seemed to hang a bit in places.

Default Wi-Fi troubles - 12-23-2007, 01:01 AM

hi all, i seem to be having an annoying difficulty with Wi-Fi; the connection keeps on timing out, randomly; i was able to get Wi-Fi back a couple of times though either by turning off and turning the Wi-Fi back on the BB or by cycling power on my wireless router (it's not like this when i had dot-180); i've also gotten an error 503 on JiveTalk and i'm still looking as to what that means; i've also encountered a java error (i think it said something like open tunnel - max timeout error) with the newer Opera Mini..

but i have never had all of this with dot-180.. battery pulls seemed to have only provided a quick remedy.. and back again

Had it installed for about a month now and I've noticed no oddities after the initial install and all has been good for the last month on it.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.0.9800/209; U; en))

I just switched back to 180 and the Wi-Fi on this thing works for me - very stable; I won't hold back on the 184 though; I'll try to redownload and do it all over again and if it does the same thing, then I guess I'll just wait for the next one right off Tmo.

The open tunnel failure you had means you didn't put the APN information back into the device settings (well, that's what it *usually* means). If you try the upgrade again you'll want to shove that back in, it seems to get lost on most OS upgrades for me...

oh yeah I've tried to set that up too and pulled the battery out but the issue was still with Wi-Fi, I could not seem to get a stable connection with 184; i'll try it again later once I get off work.. I can't be the luckiest creature to not get the 184 working!

It's not just you, the Wi-Fi definitely has some issues. Last night I had to try three times to get a connection to an open wifi at the hockey arena before the BB finally decided it was going to let me play, then it crapped out half way through my data session. The signal was pretty strong, so that wasn't it... (I'm still on .180)

with 184 last night, I couldn't get on consistently for over 10mins over Wi-Fi; tried downloading WMLive, kept timing out in the middle; tried JT and OM, same issue - especially after coming back from away; tried channels 3,6 and 11 on the WRT54G - no go; touched the advanced wireless settings, same thing; i guess i will stick with 180 for now (sorry if i've been so loud out here); i just couldn't believe it didn't work for me.. Merry Christmas everyone!

Default Using 8320 firmware .184 for a few weeks now - 12-24-2007, 03:12 PM

I have been using this for a few weeks and when the phone turns on in the morning, I have a voice mail icon even though ther is no voice mail. I then would check voicemail and in .180 version the icon would go away. In the .184 version the voicemail icon would not go away until I leave a test voicemail and listen to it.

Does anybody have a solution to this?

I downloaded the new OS and installed it on my computer then started DM (4.3). Couldn't get the update to begin like it usually does. So then I downgraded DM 4.3 to 4.2 SP2 and restarted, uninstalled the .184 upgrade and then reinstalled it. No luck, the update doesn't start.

Did you delete the vendor.xml? Any time you install any BB software (DM or handheld OS) you have to delete the vendor.xml again.

its not the phone or software, its tmo. the voicemail system is being nuts, completely random when it affects someone, and even more random on who it affects. This has been an issue for months, and for all tmo users not just BlackBerrys.

okay i will admit it has been a while since i have read through all the 8320, and wifi issue posts, and i have one issue that i have had i think since .180 and not very annoying but still interesting. just wanted to see if anyone else is seeing this.

if i do a battery pull or device reset while on a UMA connection when the device comes back up and pushes back out all my service books my data stays lovercase. HOWEVER after about 10 min all data activity will work. E-mail, JiveTalk, Reg Browser, Opera Mini, MMS all work fine with either lowercase uma and edge. My 8320 has stayed in lowercase with full working data for days, jumping between wifi, and edge. Tried this on numerous routers and wifi connections, and no matter what if i forget to turn off wifi before i pull the battery it will come back up and keep showing lowercase. The only fix(s): turn off wifi, and reset; or get outside of wifi coverage and reset.

As i said not annoying since everything works, but when there is a data outage i cant tell so i end up reseting after i turn wifi off.

Notes: on .184 and just to clarify if i reset with wifi off (or outside of wifi coverage) connection will go uppercase.
