Default "Unspecified Error" due to reboot loop - 05-18-2008, 08:40 AM

My first post. And first off, thanks to you guys for all the useful info.
Especially that one link for OperaTor: that's got a permanent place in my PortableApps folder. Now on to business...

My T-mobile 8320 gets stuck in the reboot loop when it tries to update the OS.

It gets through backing up the data and 3rd-party stuff, then claims to access the ROM. Device reboots. Hourglass for a few seconds. Reboot. Hourglass. Repeat until "Unspecified Error" occurs... just under 2 minutes.

Tried to sidestep this by yanking the USB cable once it powers back on, but it takes exactly 90 seconds for T-mobile screen to load. Plug in the BB, but it blacks out and the "Unspecified Error" happens again.

Rinse and repeat.

Any ideas?

I found tethering to be very unstable on the .184 release. I havent tried it on any previous releases, I'll do that a little later, but I think theres a high chance its just a bug in this release.

Default Problem solved - 05-29-2008, 06:50 AM

I tried everything I could... on MY computer. After I tried this on a DIFFERENT computer, the update went without a hitch, but took about 30 minutes to apply.

Only odd things I found was that I had to delete Facebook and re-install it to get it to post pictures and also the Chinese fonts actually didn't load. Ended up using fonts from a previous backup. Otherwise rockin' the 184 just fine.

Possible reason for the failure on my computer was that last I remember, I was in process of updating to XP SP3, but the computer status still indicates SP2.

Am I right in thinking that 4.2.2 is still the latest available for the 8320?
Thanks
Mike

Just realize that life will always be like that ... and you have the better phone (until she gets a new Bold before you).

I saw that Hatax, had issues with the my faves app, but I did not see how he saw the problem. I can not seem to find it either after installing the new OS. I hope I didnt take it off when I was prompted to select the applications to install. Is there away to not re-do the entire OS, and just add the my faves app? and what is it called in the applications listing?

I fixed the issue with My Faves above, by following step 4 from John Clarks Losing Call Logs guide, I know I am way behind on the BB, but that was great help, thanks.

The version listed above supports it. In fact all shipping versions of the 8320 HH OS support this.

... and Welcome!

Default "most stable" 8320 os - 06-27-2008, 12:46 PM

I'll have a new Curve in hand shortly.

I've always ran the latest & greatest on my Pearl. This appears to be the most recent for the Curve. Would most of you suggest upgrading to this as opposed to whatever the T-Mobile specific version I will be getting out of the box?

Any specific reason that the 8320 hasnt had its OS upgraded yet?
Are there plans to NOT do so that have transpired?
