When I plug the mini USB cable in to my Curve I get the little lightning bolt for about a second and a half, then it goes away. My compter reads disconnected. Any suggestions?

Take a peek at the pins on the Curve's USB port. You should be able to see a pin in ever slot (5 I think). My last pin broke off and I had to get my Curve replaced...still waiting on the replacement as of today.

You can also try a different charger and see if it makes a difference. But if the pins are broken/bent....SOL.

If the battery is completely charged the lightening bolt won't stay.

Check for bent pins, check a wall charger, check with different cables, check with different computers...

I see all 5 pins, battery is only 55%, tried 2 cables...

it works with my laptop. I am posting via Curve as my modem. I am also using one of the same cables. Looks like my work desktop no longer wishes to recognize my Curve at all.

I am now banging away at my work desktop computer tring to get it to recognize my BB. It recognizes a flash drive, so the USB port works. I have unistalled all BB software from the computer and am heading over to the TMobile web site to reinstall.

You can all relax now. Reinstalled desktop manager, rebooted, all is well.

I was really freaked out at having to blow another $400 to replace this. I do not have insurance, etc. I was actually considering all the options of using it without a USB port. I could have gotten a desktop charger that charges spare batteries and charged the battery outside the phone. I would have had to sync via blutootyh or OTA...

Anyway, I'll shut down the thread now.

Why would you have needed insurance to cover this? If the USB port dies, and there's no physical damage to the device, it should be covered under warranty.

I am now on my second device in the past 4 months and this one is now having a problem with the mini usb connection. After receiving my 1st Curve, within 1 month the phone would charge using the USB/mini USB connection with my computer but not the car charger or wall charged. I had purchased it through Amazon and they readily replaced it. Now my replacement phone is a little over 2 months old and now when I plug it into my computer I receive a message that the "USB Device Not Recognized" and the phone won't charge. I called AT&T but as luck would have it, they won't replace it since the phone had water damage. The phone did get very slightly wet, I followed the posts on this site regarding opening the unit, drying it out etc., and the phone has worked great since. Now since the prongs are obviously broken, AT&T is resting on the fact that the phone got wet to not replace it under warranty, even though the issue has nothing to do with wetness. Has anyone else had this many issues with the mini usb connection? Any advice? I hate to have to pay $400 for a new Curve. Don't know if I should even get another one since I've already gone through2 in 4 months.
