i have my second blackberry curve in 2 months. i HATE it. the first one didn't get reception anywhere...this one drops calls on my street and in my house. plus, it no longer receives emails. at first it wouldn't receive them, then they would all come in at once. then i'd get a random email here and there and now they've stopped. suncom tech support is a joke. and i've been to two stores. the employees that have helped me are clueless. I've tried taking out the battery for 40 seconds, deleting the email account and setting it up again, upgrading the software...nothing works! does anyone have any other ideas? i'd really appreciate it!

Welcome to the Forums. Sounds like you are having a tough time.

My suggestions would be (kindly) to return your BB and get a device you like. Do other SunCom devices get a decent signal on your street and in your home?

You can try these suggestions for your email issues, but it sounds like you have done most of them already:

Thank you for responding.

I actually went back to Suncom and they gave me my 3rd Blackberry Curve...this time the 8310. The email worked great for two days and now, this afternoon its stopped. So it must be something that I'm doing?!?! Does this explain anything? Thanks so much!

Well, if you did something to make it stop, do you recall anything you might have done?

Here is a simple FAQ on what to do if your email stops arriving:
My Email Stopped Arriving - BlackBerryFAQ

If you want to post back with any details explaining something, that would help.

Thanks for responding and for the link but I've tried all of that, as have the people at suncom. My email was coming in this morning. I didn't use my phone for anything except reading email and talking on the phone (definitely didn't change any settings) and by this afternoon I noticed that I had emails on the computer but not on my phone. I did a few test emails and got nothing. Plus, I can't send emails out. I really feel like it must be something I'm doing...or where I live or something. Two phones and the same problem? Its driving me crazy!

Are you using BES, BIS, redirector? Sorry you're having so much trouble. Berries are normally easy to use.

yeah, I've been taking the battery out while its on.
As for the BES or BIS...this whole thing is SO over my head. How do I know what i'm using? I guess I'm using whatever Suncom uses?

Catherine... did this issue of the emails not coming in start today, first day back at the office?

Here's the solution (fingers crossed). You need to set your Outlook at the office to "leave messages on server". Your Outlook is checking for mail, and then it is removed from the server, not leaving enough time for RIM to push it to your BB.

Here's details of the setting in Outlook: Some email comes to my BB and some does not - BlackBerryFAQ

I hope that solves the "no mail" issue.

Reading your posts further, you are not able to send email from the BB? That is normally a loss of Service Book issue... deleting and resending and/or a battery reset will normally fix that. I know, you've heard and done that.

Actually, I only use outlook express for my contacts and sometimes the calender. I use gmail....could it be that?? Someone told me to try yahoo or something besides gmail but I when I try to add it, it says it been added and nothing shows up. Also, the rest of the data requied apps aren't working not...interent, bb messenger, and it won't even connect to the email set up. I just took the battery out for about 4 minutes, deleted and re-added my email (although nothing changed on the bb) and resent the service books and nothing happened.

Also, my bb email account doesn't send or receive email either....which makes me think its probably not gmail.

What kind of network does Suncom use? Do you have an all capital EDGE by your signal strength meter? Is it GSM or lowercase edge instead? Maybe something is screwy with the SIM card, which could explain why all three phones have been messing up if they have just simply moved one card to the other.

No, Gmail works well with the BlackBerry. I haven't seen this issue with others, and the fact that you now have three-in-a-row BlackBerrys all having similar issues makes me wonder what is going on.

Is there anyway, Catherine, you could explain in detail how you have your gmail is setup to send to your BlackBerry?

Does your Gmail come to the Messages Folder, or are you using the dedicated GMail Applicationon the BB?

Can you send or receive PIN Messages?

yes, my gmail comes to the messages folder....i don't use the gmail app...maybe I should? I'm not really sure what a PIN message is...I'm sorry I feel so lost talking about this...I am really clueless about this stuff! I can receive texts but thats it.
oh and it changes from EDGE to edge occassionaly.

Catherine, go to your Messages Folder > Menu > Compose PIN message.

In the TO:., type my PIN and let's see if you can send to me, and me return to you. My PIN is 242B581D Just put TEST in the subj or whatever.

You should get a checkmark by the message if it sends, and I should receive it. I just want to see if your basic data is working.

k I tried that...there was a timer by the message for a minute then a circle and now a red x so I guess that means the basic data isn't working?
