Default Weird "H-T" icon showed up on my 8310 (Pictures)

Please Login to Remove!

This started happening this morning, for some odd reason when someone would call me it woul just ring and ring...not go to voicemail. Did the usual pull battery and make sure everything was solid. Then i went to phone>options>call forwarding and noticed everything sayed do not forward under "forward to unasnswered calls if busy". I loooked at my other BB's and under those headings it had the voicemail number. So I changed it to the voicemail number and everything worked. Call my number and voicemail now works.

THEN....

on my home screen I know have a weird icon H-T (i circled it in red)

Anyone know what this is??? I tried searching and found nothing.

I figured it out. It is for Hearing-Aid mode.

I had forgetten that i turned it on and was the same time i did the voicemail number and didn't realize that was the H-T.

I wear hearing aids so I am going to try this feature.

It certainly seems to help with less interferance.

I was puzzled all day and then when i went back to the call fwd for the voicemail number, I realized i changed the Hearing Aid option. I had known it was a capability, and now i know how!

future reference. to turn on Hearing Aid Function to "Telecoil".

phone>options>hearing aid mode

rarely do i need to make a thread, searching usually finds my answer with all the knowledgeable people on this forum.

Have a good weekend guys, thanks for the comments!

out of curiosity what does this do (i dont wear hearing aids) i tried turning on the option and didn't notice any difference.

is it just supposed to minimize the interference between the hearing aid and the bb?

That is correct. Works quite well. I have some high tech Senso aids and they do a very good job of removing feedback (interferance) when devices are near the ear w/ a reg phone. Its just that much clearer with the BB on telecoil mode (H-T).

It was a best mistake for me to find this. BB gets many

Specifically, a telecoil (t-coil) picks up the sound from the Blackberry via an electromagentic signal and transmits directly through the hearing aid and into the ear through the ear mold. The signal benefits from the processing and amplification programmed for the individual user. It bypasses the microphone on the hearing aid thus eliminating sound from other sources.

Turning on "Hearing Aid Mode" turns on the electromagnetic signal. You can't hear it or feel it. Try turning it on and holding paperclips up to the back. They'll stick.

I am very impressed that the Blackberry 8300 has a telecoil mode. Amazing!

(they won't really stick)
