Default MicroSDHC issue

Please Login to Remove!

OK, I work with computers and pretty good at stuff so this is killing me. I just moved to AT&T for the Curve (great BB BTW) and today I bought a SanDisk microSDHC 4GB card. It wont format in the BB and locks up 2 of my machines here at home. I think that the card is DOA. The Curve see's it and says to format it. When I do, it says formatting has failed. My notebook and desktop machines this card freezes My Computer and I cant see the card.

So, do you think I have a DOA card? According to people on this site, RIM's site and SanDisk site, this card should work. I'm I missing something obvious here?

Mucho thanks to all. Love this site.

I had the exact same situation as you. I had a brand new SanDisk 4GB MicroSDHC card. The Curve wouldn't format it and neither did the computers (it would just freeze and lock up). I say get a refund or exchange on your memory card.

This is very wired. The BB formatted the card. Dont ask me how, but I tried it while watching a football game and it works. So I take a picture of the dog to save it to the card. It look like I have to point the file to the SDHC card and make up my own named folders like "Photos" and "RingTones" and "Video" etc.

Does that work or make any sense? Or do I need to go to the Roxio software and set up folders?

This process is definately not user friendly.

I hit format (same card btw) and the Curve formatted and created it's own folders. Your process still seems out of the norm. Better safe I'd say by exchanging the card.

You might be right on getting a replacement card.

Now, the card says it's formatted with no folders being setup during the process. I plug it in to my notebook running desktop manager and the media manager software. The media software says to enable mass storage which is automatic with I connect it to desktop manager. The BB shows that it is in mass storage mode, yet the fricking media manager say to enable mass storage mode. So I have a BB that shows 3.7 GB, and when connected is in mass storage mode and the media software that says it is NOT in mass storage mode. Very wired and it's getting my ticked off. Any ideas outside of starting over with getting a new memory card??

Tried everything and decided to get a new card.

The new card formatted immediatly without asking for my ok and put in the folders. Roxio media manager works fine now and I can write to the card. So all is well, just had a bad card.

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. Great board here.
