Default Noob to a BB: some questions

Please Login to Remove!

My wife has the pearl and i just picked up the curve. She loves it and keeps it super simple but there's some differences: When back out of everything completely, it takes me to a screen with "message, calendar, call log and apps". How can I change which icons I want to show up or even get rid of all of them for that matter? I just figured out how to download wallpapers on there through the Desktop Mgr. Tried transferring an mp3 on there as well but in the BB media player, it says it's an unsupported format. ??? And why does every single thing have a selectable ringtone? I can change it for calendar, level 1 messages (wtf is that?), MMS, PTT, browser, messenger, messages? Is changing all that really necessary? I just changed it to what I want for phone and SMS which is what is mainly used. BTW, came from a SE s710a which was simple enough but finally gave up on it's s-s-s-stuttering operating s-s-s-system. Thanks in advance.

I suggest you read the FAQ and the user manual. Look under "Hide Applications" or something like that.

For different icons on your homescreen, change your theme: Options > Theme. Make your choice. There are other available for download at our Media section.

You're complaining? Just leave it alone, then, it doesn't matter.

Level 1 Messages allow you to set a certain sender or even PIN messages to receive a different message alert than other messages. For instance, say you wanted your boss or wife to have a different email alert, you could it as such. Nifty, eh?

It depends on the theme you're using. If you hit the "menu" key (just to the left of the trackball) when you're at your "homescreen" and get a screenful of icons you'll probably notice that the first row of icons matches what you see on your "homescreen." You can move any icons you want to that top row so that they'll be the four or five that appear on your homescreen.

Highlight an icon, hit "menu" then move, etc. You can also highlight an icon and hide it.

If your homescreen is fixed, do what JSanders suggested, change themes.
