Hey all, I'm trying to connect my Laptop to my 8320 via USB, but my laptop just will not recognize my device. All it does is charge my device for about 5 seconds and then stops charging. I have tried various other USB chargers, and all seem to do the same. I installed DM 4.3, 4.2 (sp2) and they won't recognize it either. My mass media mode is on in my device as well.

I currently have an ACER with Windows Vista loaded and my BB 8320 is unlocked on ATT using OS 4.2.2.175.

Anyone have any clue to help me out? Would gladly appreciate it.....thanks in advance!

Try uninstalling desktop manager and reinstall. Make sure the device is NOT connected during the install.

I tried that as well, but does not work. Do you think it's my device? Any other device i connect with USB gets recognized just my Blackberry doesn't.

Here's a suggestion

Go into device manager for your windows machine (right click my computer - properties - Hardware - Device manager)

Scroll down to USB Root Hub and right click each instance, go to properties and then power management. Your "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" setting is probably checked.. I've seen this setting prevent devices from being detected in the past.

Make these setting changes for each instance and reboot your machine (and unplug the device)

When rebooted, try again and let us know the results.

Your laptop has both the Desktop Manager AND the specific device's Software right?

On my laptop I have both the Blackberry Desktop Software 4.2.2 AND the Blackberry v4.2.2 for the 8300 Series Wireless Handheld.


I think you need both.

yeah, i tried that already...but doesn't work..and last night i found out that my 8320 doesn't pair with my GPS puck either! I should've never traded in my 8300 in for the 8320...i don't even use my wifi feature anymore! this 8320 device is horrible!
