Default Please help me with my Blackberry 8310...

Please Login to Remove!

So I have a blackberry 8310. My sim card is from ATT and it says 3g on it. I just got off the phone with some guy from India who is probably some call center dude for ATT. He told me if I was in a 3g area that it will say 3G in the top right corner instead of EDGE. I have never seen a 3G in the top right always have EDGE. Maybe someone can explain this to me?

Also I have the att communication manager so I can have internet on my laptop. I am in Hawaii on vacation right now and I have capital EDGE in the top right corner with full bars. I am on the internet and it works but the second I start to open too many windows my internet dies and it stops sending packets. The only way to get back online is to reboot my computer and take the battery out of my phone and put it back in. This is starting to get annoying having to do this every 5 minutes. Anyone have any idea why this is happening or how to fix this? Also why am I not getting the 3G speeds on this communication manager?

Please help!

Thanks!!!

The Blackberry 8310 is not a 3g device.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8310/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I'm not sure about the laptop connect problems but as far as speeds are concerned.... Blackberry is EDGE capable only.

I know AT&T has been rolling out 3G in many markets. According to AT&T's website it is only available in Honolulu. Plus the 8310 is not 3G.

Here is a link:

As for loosing your conection it does happen to me sometimes. Usually after a half hour and I have to reboot the phone.

As for the SIM card saying 3G, its great marketing. The 3G SIM cards are in iPhones.

What is a 3g device? Why does the sim card say 3g on it?

Can anyone help with the connectivity issues?

Thanks!

AT&T does support 3G in certain markets. Your 3G card in your BlackBerry means nothing really. Just a plain old SIM card. I added a link to my last post that the 3G cards are also in iPhones.
