| Yes DUST AGAIN! Now in my 8310! Please Login to Remove! My 5th 83xx device with dust under the screen. Can't RIM get this fixed or not? This is worst than the 8700 days!

Oh well back to my 8820 | your not alone. i have 4 or 5 colleagues that have the same issue. unfortunately i have also seen it on a 8820.
what you can do is disassemble your device, and remove it your self. very easy.
unfortunately blackberryfaq.com don't have a disassemble guide for 83xx.
if you are in desperate need, maybe i can make one... in the future
just need the right kind of tools first. | Offline

But I don't see that as the main issue. No point in clearing the dust away if it's just going to fill up a again.
There doesn't seem to be any agreement of where it's *actually* getting in through, and how to stop it. Just some unproven theories. If I knew that, I'd take my 8300 apart to clean it and 'fix the leak'...

| That's one of the reasons I got a case with a clear screen protector ( Review of Boxwave Designio Leather case for Curve.
Some folks don't like it. But I actually do to primarily prevent scratches.
But now it serves another purpose... to help prevent dust under the screen. No guarantees of course, but every little bit helps.

I've had a screen protector on since pretty much day-ont though...don't know if that helps at all.

| Been using that little leather sleeve that T-Mobile gives you with the 8320 since day #1 (never thought I would like one of these) and have zero dust, it's doing a great job of keeping my device in sweet shape. My 8100 looks like a scratchfest in comparison... (offtopic: plus I've learned the joys of "holster" modes and autokeylocking, it's great)
Here I found one on eBay for y'all: OEM CASE POUCH for RIM BLACKBERRY CURVE 8320 8300 8310 - (eBay item 260188809621 end time Dec-07-07 12:16:12 PST)
Ends in an hour (2007-12-07 11:00am PST right now) but I'm sure there are more of 'em on eBay, just hard to find... | Offline

Although my Curve is carried in an OEM belt-clip pouch...or, more recently a Seidio Hybrid case and matching holster...this slip cover is great for folks who carry their phones in pockets and such. I have used mine several times, and it's a winner. | Offline

| I've had the 8700, 8100, and now an 8300. I used to feel lucky that my 8700 and my 8100 never had dust issues, but my luck has ran out. My 8300 has dust on the right side and its getting worse all the time. I can see the gasket/foam seal along the housing under the screen, and it doesnt look like there is an opening for dust to enter. It seems like it just appears, although I know thats not true. As it has been said at length, I do not understand why RIM cannot solve this problem on such an expensive device, especially since it always seems to only come in from the right side. It seems that it would be a simlple fix. | Offline

They either do not know how to get it to show up or they do not "want" to see it. If I had 4 83XX units with dust, I can not believe it is not a common problem. I hate people to look and find it as some freak and it ruins their BB experience. I just do not care any more as I know that I do not keep any device over a few months.
My last 8310 "red" had a few specks of dust when it came out of the box! I would have returned it but decided it simply was futile. For those who have not seen the dust behind their screen, do not look at your device with the screen off with the sun light hitting at a shallow angle! Best to just use and enjoy as these devices are not dustproof!
Merry Christmas!

I do know how to "make it show up"...and have had no dust issues with any BlackBerry I have ever owned. Lucky...maybe, a fluke...possibly, but a fact nonetheless.
As a matter of fact, I have become rather paranoid about the dust after hearing of your longstanding problems (all well documented) with it...and find myself checking my screen several times a day. It really has tripped my OCD-trigger!! | Offline

Here is a white background:
Here is my device with no dust:
Now, unless you want to fly your inflammatory butt over here and point to the dust in a microscope, don't purport that "everyone has this problem" because as many have mentioned, we do not. I'm sorry that you do and have these problems, but there's a lot of us who are just fine. | Offline
