Average speed for EDGE is between 50 and 125 kbps. I would say you are on the low end. Could be due to your connection, the distance to a tower, tower congestion, or any number of other issues.

Comparing speeds with other people is like comparing apples to grapefruit. Unless you are side by side, on the same device, accessing the same network and downloading the same file, it means nothing, and even then should be taken with a grain of salt.

Plus I don't know of any good test sites for cell data. And if you are using an app like Opera Mini which uses proxy servers, then you get wrong numbers because the speed it gives is the speed between the proxy and the web not the device to the web.

I don't know of one. There are too many variables involved in handheld devices - connection itself, device processor, device memory, distance to the tower, tower congestion, etc,. that are out of your control.

EVDO and 3G are somewhat faster, but nothing is really fast on a handheld.
