Default Blackberry Messenger Question

Please Login to Remove!

I just got the 8310/Curve and I'm having trouble using BB Messenger. I added my friends' pins to the address book then added them to my contacts. It informed me that my Blackberry would be sending a confirmation to my friends in order to add them to my contacts, but none of them are receiving the confirmations. Their names are listed under "Pending" and I also do not receive anything when they try adding my pin. Can anyone help?

Thanks for reading!!

Sera

First, welcome to the BlackBerryForums.

Do you have a BB Data Plan from AT&T?

Can a friend send you a BBM invite?

Can you send and receive PIN messages (look in the Message Folder > Compose PIN)?

Are you postive they are not receiving the BBM invites (have you looked at their BB yourself)?

Did you actually add them using their pins? When you add a contact just highlight the contact name (don't click on it) and then select "PIN." If you just click on the contact then it will default to an email address which isn't as reliable as the PIN method.

The other thing that can cause problems is if you are on a BES. Many corporate policies restrict use of BBmessenger with other BB's not on the same BES.
