Default 8320 OS: 4.2.2.181 / 4.2.2.332 (Cable & Wireless - Multilanguage, SmarTone-Vodaphone)

Please Login to Remove!

Stumbled upon this just now, those on .180 that didn't like .184 might want to give this a gander. Interesting that a Chinese variant popped up at the same time.

errr, that title was supposed to say "SmarTone-Vodaphone - Chinese" to help our friends looking for it, I swear I typed that. If a mod could re-title this thread that would be swell.

I am interested... Anyone extensivily use gps bluetooth with any maps programs? does your gps disconnect after 30 minutes to 45 minutes of use?

I can't figure out if it is my new gps device or .184 giving me the troubles.

I believe that bug has been in 4.2.2 since day 1. I know mine's always done it...

Anyone decide to give this a shot, report in for those of us watching the thread for some reports on how it went. Personally I'm interested in any improvements in Wifi, but in such a short release (.180 -> .181) I'm not holding my breath...

Welp, when I plug in the device (.180 installed) and start the upgrade wizard I get a warning that the apps on the device are newer that what's in the .181 package installed on the PC. Interesting.... I think I'll just leave mine alone then.

I got the same response and the platform number on the 180 OS is higher than the 181 OS. I left mine alone too.

Default 8320 unlocked (original T-mobile) on a French carrier

Hi all,

I'm a newbi and the lucky user of the brand new (here in France ) Curve 8320.
My problem is that my device is in Full English.

I use BB Internet Service with BOUYGUES TELECOM, which is a French carrier.

My question is, if I install this new OS Multilanguage (my currently is 4.2.2.171) does my device will be blocked, can I still us It with my French Carrier?

Is there the French language in this new OS upgrade?

Thanks for your feedback.

Welcome to the forums! The firmware releases with 'M' right after the model number (so like 8320M_blah_blah) means "Multilanguage" and includes the French, Spanish, Italian and others. If the firmware has a beginning name like 8320CJK it means chinese/japanese/korean in nature - still includes English but not French.

This firmware (in this thread) is of questionable quality - instead I recommend you upgrade your device to the stable T-Mobile release 4.2.2.180 (which includes French). After installing the firmware files on your PC and plugging in the device to start, you will get a screen that will allow you to add the French parts to your device during the upgrade (or you could skip that and add them after the upgrade, this is also a supported course of action).

Here's the thread with the good firmware and info:
OS: BB 8320 4.2.2.180 TMo

There is a newer .184 released, but it also (like this .181) is of questionable quality. I personally have remained with .180 for now as well as many others...

Vodafone Essar Limited has also released this firmware, it's a Chinese variant.

Thank you very much for your help.
But I have another question, if I do the upgrade, does my devices will blocked on t-mobile network or not ?

Thanks

Not. You can install any firmware on any device (of the same number!) and it is OK, the firmware does not "lock" your phone to that carrier like other phones (Motorola, for instance). BlackBerry devices are locked through another method - once you unlock a BlackBerry it is *always* unlocked, regardless of which firmware you install.
