Default Slowed curve in SMS

Please Login to Remove!

So I did a few searches and couldn't find anything. I actually recall a guy posting last week or so about how his curve was now considerably slower only in the SMS program. I've done a battery pull, wiped all of the sms messages, and nothing.

Typing is extremely lagged, and so is using the menu. I don't know what it is, but any suggestions would be grand.

I called tmobile, and they told me to hook it up to my desktop manager software, and that should fix it, but I'm not at home at this very moment.

Slowness and lagging is usually attributed to Memory (or lack there of). Menu>Options>Status (What's your free memory?)

If it's less at 12 to 15mg you need to do some house-keeping.

To free up memory:

How do I free up memory on my device? - BlackBerryFAQ

Also third party applications and non-vendor themes take up a lot of space. Start by deleting the sample video and unused languages. If you don't have a media card get one. Get all your pics and music of the device memory and onto the media card.

Be sure that you are closing your programs properly if you don't they will be running in the background eating memory.

To see what's running ALT + Escape. If there are more than the base 5 programs you have things running in the background.

Good luck!

Thanks, I forgot to mention I'm anal about watching my memory. After coming from the palm that loads programs off the additional card, I've learned quickly by reading this forum that I had to maintain my memory carefully.

I'm running around 17 megs of memory, with jive talk being the only additional program. It just doesn't really make sense because nothing else really lags, just the SMS program.

I've removed most themes, and it's down to two I think. Even deleted a lot of my pictures since I don't have a microSD card yet for the phone. Still no luck. :-\

Thats very strange.... I have had BB Messenger lag but that is usually when someone else is typing or it's a very long conversation. What happens to the performance if Jivetalk is closed? Curious do you have any long running conversation threads in JiveTalk? If so, you might try ending them or clearing them and starting new ones.

Did the device always do this?
