Default 8320 Sim Card slot

Please Login to Remove!

I noticed the sim card latch that holds my sim doesnt seem to lock securely into place. When I take my battery out to reboot every few weeks or so the latch pops on its own. The latch for the microsd seems to lock in secure. Does anyone else's 8320 have the same problem wit the sim door??

Mine is very tight to get locked. It takes quite a bit of force to actually get it to where it snaps into the locked position. You are likely not locking it completely.

Has anyone used a local non-US SIM card for data
while traveling?

Most prepaid local sim cards don't do BB data.

I have used one in Australia. It gave me data but not BB data.

This is true. The only one I have seen that does do date is: Call in Europe, low-cost mobile solutions

I have not used them personally as T-Mobile has a cheap and effective international roaming plan for blackberrys. Why not use that?

I think Asia may be a little more progressive in having data access on regular prepaid sim cards.

I had a regular AIS sim card in Thailand that had data access. Not BB services, but regular data. So I was able to use it, although just to test it out since I had wifi. Charged by time and not data quantity so a good deal for smartphones. They also have data oriented sim cards with better data plans but still with call capabilities. Dtac and the 3rd provider are similar.

I also had a sim card in the Philippines (Globe) that had data access, and I think one in Hong Kong (SmarTone?) as well.
