Default help/problem with using 8310 as a modem

Please Login to Remove!

i just got my 8310 and am a new BB user (2 weeks). When I first got the BB, I setup the modem immediately and it worked no problem.

i finally needed it as a modem for the first time in the field yesterday and it didnt work. the only thing i can think of that i changed was installing the BB handheld OS on the laptop (so that i can add programs to the BB from the desktop manager b/c it didnt work originally).

So using the BB as a modem doesnt work. I havent touch the modem settings at all.

It hangs on verifying username and password. then i get this message:

Error 721: The remote computer did not respond. For further assistance, click More Info or search help and support center for this error number.

Redial cancel more info

I have the device manager turned on
I can query the modem fine
I double-checked the settings in the blackberryfaq and my config is exact
i deleted it and re-created it just to double-check and im still having the same problem
I wasnt 100% sure which intiliaztion command to use. Im on AT&T in NY and I tried BOTH:

Cingular Blue/AT&T Users (Success!)
+cgdcont=1,"IP","proxy"

Cingular Orange Users (Success!)
+cgdcont=1,"IP","ISP.CINGULAR"

Im completely stuck on this and this is one of the main reasons I got the BB. Can anyone help me out?

The Desktop Manager must be running for the modem functionality via USB cable to work. Having only the Device Manager running will not allow modem usage.

Connection Manager for using the 8310 as a modem. Actually it's a pretty slick little app.
