Sooo slow My curve is suddenly SOOO slow. I did a battery removal, let it set for a minute, then reinstalled the battery. It took 45 minutes to initialize. I've tried a couple of resets, and they each have the same result...increasingly long reaction times. I just tried to place a call and the phone wouldn't hang up. The hourglass shows up and rolls and rolls. The only extra program I have on my BB is Epocrates. I installed it a couple of weeks ago and once I did a battery reset, I have not had any problems until today. What can I do to fix this? |
If not to difficult, try removing any third party apps. See if the issue resolves itself then reinstall. |
Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100) If troy's suggestion doesn't work I would recommend a backup and them wipe of the device. |
It seems to me that Epocrates is a huge program. How much free memory do you have on the device. Look in Options >Status and tell us the number. My guess is the device is out of memory. |
You might to a ALT+LGL, then delete all of the logs. If that doesn't work, the other two suggestions are probably your next step. |
Here's the information from the Options > Status page: File Free 0 Bytes File Total: 55443456 I think you're right about being out of memory. If I add an microSD card will that help it? BTW, I'm uninstalling Epocrates, but I really would like to be able to use it. That's the thing I miss most about leaving m handheld computer. The BB beats it on everything else though. |
You can't get any more out of memory than that! follow these instructions: Why is my BlackBerry losing its call logs or message logs? - BlackBerryFAQ How do I free up memory on my device? - BlackBerryFAQ Additional information on memory leaks on the 8100 - BlackBerryFAQ |
My personal experience with the Curve on at&t was about the same. This was on the island of Oahu. Mail was ok but the browser was taking way too long. Last month I picked up an 8320 at T-mobile to try out on their 14 day plan to see how the UMA worked overseas and if it would be worth the switch. What I didn't expect was the speed of T-mobiles EDGE. I was shocked and tried it next to my at&t Curve and the difference was like between dial-up and broadband. This might be because of the area that I was using it.... not sure. When I roam overseas on EDGE the speed between the two was the same. Of course wifi is really fast on the 8320... |
Thanks for y'all's help. My Curve is back to normal. |
New version of Epocrates fixes this hourglass (slow down) issue. Download again at get.epocrates.com. |
