Where did the 8110 come from? I thought it was still a prototype.

You can always un-install the OS and replace it with the previous one.
Spanish input and display are support.

if you had it before the 8310 i would say it is probably the 8100 that you have.

Does this update include Simplified Chinese? I tried to install the latest AT&T release on my AT&T Curve 8300 and all it had was Traditional Chinese. Yuck.

When I am selecting components for install, it doesn't show simplified as an option. I assume it's built in default?

Hi, I'm a new 8320 user with T-mobile (OS 4.2.2.184). Can someone please answer the following questions:
1). How much more of system memory this SingTel version will consume, comparing with the stock T-mobile US version?
2). I have the Blackberry Internet Service. Will I need to call T-mobile or change any network configuration settings on my phone?
3). Will the PIN of the phone change after the "upgrade"?
4). Will I lose any of the T-mobile specific settings like the t-zone?
This is a great site with so many kind and knowledgeable people. I'm so happy to find it!
Thanks in advance for your reply

1. The same
2. No
3. No
4. No
Flashed my Vodafone BB with the chinese SingTel Rom, working perfectly.
But i think the 8320 uses a different firmware than the 8310. Take a look at the 8320 latest firmware-Thread.

Thanks so much Michael!
I have one more questions:
What version of the Desktop Manager should I use for this SingTel version (I'm using the 4.2.2.14 now).

The version you have is the best version at the moment (not the newest but the best.)

Thank you John!
Sorry that I have to ask one more question:
I read from some posts that the Chinese version cannot display Chinese characters in email. Is that true? I'm a bit confused on where I can see Chinese with this version. Email? IE? Mobipocket with Chinese ebooks?

Thank you Michael!
I guess my question is: if I have installed the Chinese fonts, will I be able to see Chinese characters on ANY applications? If not, do we know which programs support Chinese and which ones don't?

According to this Thread, chinese came, as i aspect, with a chinese firmware. Maybe chinese Mails cannot be displayed, but the whole interface should be chinese than. But grab the firmware for 8320 if you have one, not 8310!

Yes, you will need to find the firmware for the 8320 specifically that has the Chinese support. I did read another thread a while back where a guy was able to rip the CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) language support out of an 8300/8310 firmware release and place it inside his 8320 firmware by editing the XML files. Don't remember where that was, but my guess is you'd be better off waiting for T-Mobile to add it rather than risking a lot of trouble putting it in yourself unless you absolutely need it.

Thanks everybody for the response
I did install the new version last night (yes, the 8320 version). I found that Chinese characters display only in IE and Email, but unfortunately, not with Chinese ebooks in Mobipocket. I haven't tried the Memopad or any of the IM yet.
Overall, the new version seems to be slightly faster. However, I did experience one scenario with bluetooth. I was listening to the Media Player while driving this morning; and then initiated a call thru the BT in the car. Once the call ended, instead of resuming Media Player as in version 180, the Media Player stayed on pause. I'll test this scenario more later today.
Does anyone have similar problem with this version?
(Sorry for posting 8320 questions on a 8310 forum. I'll be more careful next time.)

I just received my curve in FedEx and just installed this thing...it's about 10% complete so I am VERY nervous!
I upgraded to 4.3 first then installed the Chinese 4.2.2 from the link. I hope I won't brick my phone :-p
Really looking forward to read Chinese on it!

hi, I've flashed my now Curve directly to this version, soI can't say if this is a known problem:
My backlight turns of after 30 seconds although I set it to 90 seconds. 2 minutes doen't work either.

Would be very interesting to hear how you managed to "upgrade to 4.3 first", since 4.3 isn't available yet for the 8300 series.

Followed the instruction for 4.3 DTM and all went well. Took over an hour to complete.

Just updated myself and so far it appears to work fine. I used to have an exception in the setup wizard and it is now gone, but it still didn't get my contacts from the SIM. Oh well, 1 step at a time.

Doing an upgrade will not copy your sim card contacts.
Go to address Book >menu key >Sim Card Phonebook >menu key >copy all to address book.

Is this a worth while upgrade or should just wait for 4.3/4.5?
I am currently running 4.2.2.163.

If you're not having any issues with your current OS, I'd leave it until 4.5 is released. THAT will be worth jumping on!
