Using a Curve as a modem to a laptop
Is it possible to use an AT&T Curve (8300) as a modem to a laptop?

Be careful with AT&T. They have plans that cover "tethering" so you could be charged extra for this. I don't know if they can tell when you do this or if they charge, but something to be aware of.

"Tethering" charges
Yeppers. This is a DIFFERENT charge from your plan. Even if you have the unlimited data plan, you still get charged differently. Trust me. I got a $900 bill one month since I had to use it alot as a tethered modem.

I was curious about this since I started tethering my Curve yesterday and have already had it connected for about 10 hours.

I checked my account online at AT&T and saw that my data plan is called Internet/MEdia Net and it said I have Unlimited access and already used 78.8 mb of the unlimited. I still wanted to double check and called AT&T and they confirmed I have unlimited modem access.

So I am happy about this. :)

I suggest if you have a question to check online as well as calling AT&T.

I just had to get my account changed since it turned out the account that AT&T switched me to was not correct. I was getting partial Tethering but not everything I needed to in order to connect from everywhere.

My new data plan is the following: BlackBerry Enterprise Unlimited + Tethering

This is $59.99 before discounts and requires you to have a phone plan as well. I can now connect and all of my connecting will be unlimited.

That's the plan our cell phone adim said I had, yet I still managed to rack up a $900 bill when I was using it tethered. Will have to look into this.
Someone's got some 'spainling to do.
