Deleting Music From BB & Email Question

I uploaded some songs to my BB Curve. They all listed twice, for some reason, but only play once. I figured I would delete them, then upload them again. I deleted them from the software but they have not deleted from my BB. And they don't play.

I even tried deleting them on the device itself. What can I do to remove these songs from the phone? Right now it is text but still, it is annoying. I want them gone!

Also, are there ways to turn e-mails being forwarded off? Then on again? I get a million emails during the day when I am at work, and they are all going to my BB! It goes off every minute!

Thanks in advance for the help.

Duplicate files

Have you tried power cycling the BB after deleting the files? I've never seen it happen where my deleted files are still on the BB. I've only seen where apps needed a power cycle (remove battery and replace) to be removed from the home screen. I would think that music files should be alot easier to remove.

When you connect your BB to your PC are you using the DM to delete the files or just Windows Explorer? I would recommend using Windows Explorer.

As for the notifications, yes. Set your profiles to mute and not vibrate for messages and your should get the desired effect. Unless of course you don't even want to know that you are getting emails at all. Then you might have to manually reconcile from your BB or something like that. The whole point of a BB is to be constatntly and continually be in touch with your "parent" email system.

ditto what jlee stated, on both points.

You can use the Phone Only profile. Or you can turn off the Mobile Network at Manage Connections, but that will also kill all data to your BB, internet, etc.

The power cycle worked! Thanks!

I was using the DM to add and delete files. I just wanted a few songs on there. How do you use Windows Explorer to do that?

Also is there a way to delete several emails at once? Rather than one by one. Sorry for the dumb questions. This is my first Blackberry.

Windows Explorer

When you connect your BB to your PC, if you have a microSD card, you can actually use it as a thumb drive. You have to go into Computer Management>Storage>Disk Management and assign it a drive letter. Assign it a drive letter and viola. You also have to setup the BB's permissions to use it as a drive. There should be a FAQ around here somewhere with step-by-step procedures. If not, let me know and I can post one.

As for deleting several emails at once, there's not a way to pick and choose multiple emails and delete them. The only thing I know of is to do a little tip.
Go to your mail screen. Hit "T" (for Top) and it will go all the way to the top of your emails and highlight the Date and Time line. Then hit the Blackberry menu button to pull up the full menu. Then scroll up one line to "Delete Prior" which will delete ALL emails below your Date and Time highlighted line.

If there's another way to select multiple, non-sequential, emails I'd like to know as well.

HTH.

highlight over the first email you would like to delete, and use the SHIFT key to scroll up or down to select more, press delete or mark open.

This way you can select continguous emails.

What about non-contiguous?

There a way of doing it w/o getting an add-on? Thanks.

StephBKNY 12-24-2007 09:48 AM

Ok, so the DELETE PRIOR thing worked. Thanks!

One more question. I had saved an e-mail, where is it stored? Or is that gone now that I did DELETE PRIOR?

JSanders 12-24-2007 10:03 AM

Messages > View Folders > Saved Messages.

Saved messages will NOT delete when deleting from the main message folder.

Check out the FAQs!

StephBKNY 12-24-2007 10:10 AM

I will do that. Thanks!

Ok, this is where I look like an idiot. Maybe I'm too distracted at work?! I can't find, on the FAQS for 8300, the answer to my question about saved e-mails. I do have a memory card. Can they be stored there?

jleebiker 12-24-2007 10:37 AM

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8310/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Go to your Messages. Then BlackBerry menu. Then View Saved Messages.

What Scrooge is making you work on Christmas Eve?!

Edit

Again, thank you! I always had phones that were much simpler than this one in the past. My fiance gave me the Blackberry Curve as an early Christmas gift, just this past Saturday. I love this phone! I have most of it figured out on my own. That FAQ will be bookmarked here and at home, so I can refer to it in the future.

I especially want to see about new themes. I like the theme the phone comes with, called BB Dimension Today, because of what text it lists (calendar, for example). I don't like the graphic though. I'd love to keep those text options but have a different background image. There must be a theme like that somewhere, with a better background. For now I use my own graphics with the default theme.

The "Scrooge" I work for are nice people. We are a non-profit and the people we service need us today. I took the day after Christmas off though.
