Post Multi-tasking on the Curve 8310

I was told by the AT&T rep that when using the BB device, you can only do one thing at a time (phone, email, text). Is it possible to use the speakerphone, then go back to the home page, and check email while on the phone? For example, can I talk to someone on the phone about an email they sent me, or view the pictures they sent, while talking on the speakerphone? Happy Holidays to all. Thanks for the info.

Yes and No.

Yes, I use the phone, look up addresses or a phone number to give the caller, compose email, take a note, etc.

You cannot receive an email while you are on the phone. Data does not transmit while the phone is active. You can view pictures from an email already sent you, although the email may not actually be able to download the picture while you are on the phone, since the BB does not grab the data until you need it with an attachment.

So you can't do ANYthing, correct.

There is one exception to this rule, and that is SMS. You CAN txt msg (send AND receive) while on a phone call. I do it all the time. It takes longer to for the send and receive to occur, but it still goes through. MMS and Emails will go through once the call has ended.

well the 8820/8320/8120 are "technically" considered 3g by RIM because they can recieve data on wifi while on a phone call.
