I've partly answered my own question but came up with a new one. The BT-359 works--for a WHILE--with my Verizon 8130, but it won't stayed paired with Bluetooth. It pairs and stays connected just long enough for a few updates--deadly accurate, by the way--but then it just dissociates or unpairs or disconnects. I can't find any way to keep it connected.
CORRECTION (2008-04-05):
I'm late in returning to correct this post. I can now get the BT-359 to pair and stay connected very reliably. I don't know what sequence I was using before, or what else I might have been doing wrong, but now if I follow this sequence, it works very well:
I will assume the BT-359 has been successfully "added" as a Bluetooth device before and will show up in the Bluetooth device list.
1. Enable Bluetooth on phone
2. Cancel the "Add Device" message (since BT-359 got added before now)
4. Close Bluetooth app
5. Power up BT-359 (and I usually wait a few seconds to give it time to connect, but not sure this is necessary)
6. If phone LED does not flash blue, DON'T ASSUME THAT MEANS FAILURE. When I connect to my Bluetooth headset, the LED
does flash blue at this point, but not my BT-359. Not sure why.
7. Run an app like BlackBerry Maps or Google Maps. If BB Maps, (set GPS source to be BT-359) do Start GPS Navigation. If GMM, do Find Location.
8. Finally, you should be the LED flashing blue on your phone.
